TCS to hire 50,000 in FY-2012: CEO

Tata Consultancy Service (TCS), India's top software services exporter, is seeing good demand for outsourcing services across sectors and expects client spends to be better in fiscal 2012, its chief executive said.

N Chandrasekaran, who is also the managing director of TCS, said IT outsourcing demand in Europe was recovering but was "slightly behind the curve", while outlook for North America, its largest exports market, remained strong.

"What I see on the ground is the spend is increasing. Fiscal 2012 will be a better year...better for growth," Chandrasekaran told reporters on Monday, adding he expected pricing to move up as demand for outsourcing increases.

TCS, whose clients include Citigroup and General Electric, has not seen any business impact from the unrest in Middle East and North Africa, he said.

Indian corporate salaries are set to grow by nearly 13 per cent this year, the fastest pace in the world, and will keep rising at this level for up to five years, a consultancy forecast.

The country's salaries will grow by 12.9 per cent in 2011, ahead of China's which will see nine percent growth, global human resource consultancy Aon Hewitt said.

"Indian companies have been doing pretty well with growth picking up, and there is an extra pool of cash," Nitin Sethi, India compensation specialist for Aon Hewitt, said.

Hewitt sees a stable outlook for the Indian IT and outsourcing sectors, since these sectors are mostly reliant on global economic revival. Sethi, said, "The outsourcing and technology sectors have had a big positive swing from the recessionary period of 2009.

Tips to make a good resume

1. Keep it short

Know the purpose of your resume , avoid really long and boring piece. The objective of your resume is to land an interview, and the interview will land you the job (hopefully!).

2. Avoid Mistakes

Proofread it twice.

3. Keep it Structured

Use bullet points and short sentences to describe your experiences, educational background and professional objectives. Mention your contact information in the header.

4. Customize

Tailor your resume & cover letters for each employer- Do not create a standard resume sure it will save you time, but it will also greatly decrease the chances of landing an interview. Identify what profile employer are looking for and how the information should be presented.

5. Use standard formats

Use common fonts like Times Roman, Courier, and Bookman. Font size: 10 (minimum), 12 (maximum); Headings may be larger. Margins: 1 inch (ideal); ½ inch (minimum)

6. Avoid plagiarism

Do not copy stuff from your friend’s resumes. This not only reduces the chances for you but your friend as well .
