called Lakshya – India’s largest one
of its kind corporate festival of
NITIE, Mumbai. National Institute
of Industrial Engineering (NITIE)
– Mumbai is an autonomous Body under
the Ministry of HRD constitutes the
centers of Excellence along with IIM’s,
IIT’s. NITIE has always been the benchmark
for research and education in Industrial
Engineering in the country.
Lakshya is an altogether unique concept
put into place by future torch bearers
of the country in the year 1999. This
event is a perfect forum for interaction
of top business leaders of the country,
top corporate, all B-School students
and engineering students at one platform.
This year its 10th anniversary is
being celebrated.
Every year NITIE salutes the stalwarts of the industry with the Lakshya Business visionary award. Awardees over the year include the likes of Mr. Ratan Tata, Mr. Rahul Bajaj, Mr. Azim Premji to name a few. Continuing the legacy, this year’s awardees are:-
- Shri A.M. Naik, Chairman and Managing Director, Larsen and Toubro,
- Shri Venugopal Doot, Chairman and Managing Director, Videocon Group,
- Dr Laxmi Narayanan, Vice Chairman, Cognizant Technology Solutions

On the job achiever’s contest is one of its kind events in India where working managers from various companies present the successfully implemented projects in four areas before the eminent Jury panels comprising of the Top level executives from Top Companies. NITIE is the only institution in the country which provides such a unique platform where corporate presents their projects.
In regards to being social responsible as citizens of this country, Sparsha (in association with Muskan Trust) provides a platform for NGO’s to present their projects in front of eminent Jury panel comprising of CSR representatives of various Organizations.
To promote the spirit of Entrepreneurship, Empresario is organized along with Lakshya. In recognition of great entrepreneurial success, this year the following awards are being conferred:-
Most Inspiring Entrepreneur of the Year Award

Best Start Up of the Year Award
- Mr. Sanjeev Bhikchandani, Founder and CEO, Naukri.com
In a one of a kind event, Navkriti, startups (companies not older than 2.5 years) present their business ideas in front of a jury comprising of well known Venture Capitalist firms like Seed Fund Advisors, Sequoia Capital. The winners of this event are entitled to a total seed fund of Rs 5 Crore. Again, only NITIE provides a platform for such an innovative concept implemented at such an immense magnitude.
To promote entrepreneurial spirit among students, B-plan Contest is organized where students from top B-school including IIMs, ISB, FMS etc present their Business plans. The winners are entitled for a seed fund of Rs 1 Crore.
Lakshya is organized under the guidance of Prof. Ashok K. Pundir, Associate Dean - Placements, who is also the Covener, Lakshya. “Lakshya portrays student’s quest for knowledge and symbolizes their yearning desire to conquer the challenges with flying colors. As the Convener, I feel privileged to be a part of dreams and the visions of the future generations”, says Prof. Pundir.
