of Engineering, Pune is organizing
its National Level Sports Extravaganza
"ZEST", scheduled
from 22nd - 26th January,
2010. The College of Engineering,
Pune, a premier institution in India,
promotes the development of technology
through its academics. Apart from
academics, COEP has always encouraged
its young and budding engineers to
realize their potential in the field
of sports and other extra-curricular
activities.
A complete persona is often a blend of spirit, right perspective and professionalism. All these qualities are inculcated at the various stages one goes through in life. Sports undoubtedly have a very major role to play in this personality building. Sports are an important part of holistic schooling. It is an aspect of school being about more than just book learning - it is about educating the whole person, a holistic education that betters us in an all-round sense, rather than a merely academic experience. Some aspects of physical education are vital for future wellbeing. And as we all know,
"A healthy mind rests in a healthy body".
Thus, with a view to provide a
great platform for young budding engineers
to display their skills on the sports
front, we at COEP have come up with
our path breaking event, "ZEST".
The main objective behind ZEST is to
create a constructive cocktail of passion,
endurance, skill, teamwork in every
participating techie. This constructive
cocktail once created will thus help
the development of better co-ordinated
and executed efforts, both on and off
the sporting field. The format of the
event is custom designed to enhance
competitive levels, make you work till
the edge and give you the adrenaline
rush. ZESTs platter caters to you with
a much larger array of sporting action
ranging right from the very homely Kabbadi
to the western sport of Baseball. ZEST
has grown bigger and better each time
since the last 7 years.
With over 3000 participants
and 6000 spectators
in the previous edition, we will be
presenting to you a much more loaded
and action packed ZEST in 2010. We expect
participation from about 10 different
states in this version. In an academically
oriented country like India, sports
often take the backseat. So the event
also aims to provide the required support
and exposure to talented individuals.
Each sporting event in a broader perspective
seeks to inculcate the thirst for victory
in its participants; in our case it
becomes very peculiar because with an
event of the magnitude of ZEST we surely
must be able to create an army of victory
seeking individuals. Besides this, ZEST
`10 also comes with the backdrop
of an environmental campaign to save
water, with the Water Drop - "Boond"
being our mascot. Thus in short, what
we can promise you is an extremely challenging
sporting event with cutting edge completion,
exciting ties and a wonderful atmosphere.
ZEST will kick off on 22nd January 2010.
