New Zealand is known internationally for its quality
education. It offers excellent study opportunities
and support services for international students. Students
can choose from the diverse courses available for academic,
professional and vocational studies at universities,
polytechnics, colleges of education, secondary schools and
private training establishments. Apart from these there are
also a number of English language institutes and private
English language schools.
In New Zealand education between the
ages of 6-16 years is compulsory. The New Zealand
government provides for free education in state schools for
the residents.
Pre-Primary school begins at
the age of 3 or 4 years.
Primary schooling begins
around the age of 6 or 7 years depending on the performance
of the student.
Secondary education starts
around the age of 13 years. At this stage the student has 2
options to choose from.

secondary education a school certificate is given and
the students join polytechnics and other specialized
professional education centers.

secondary education the students appear for university
exams.
New Zealand has 2300 primary
and 350 secondary schools, 7 universities, 25 polytechnics,
5 colleges of Education and Teacher's Training.
