National Institute of Technology Patna invites applications for admission to Ph. D Program for Selection through Institute Admission Test and Interview during Autumn Semester - Session 2013-14 www.freshersworld.com
Eligibility : Candidates with following qualification shall be eligible for admission to the Ph. D. Programme of the Institute. For Engineering, Technology and Architecture Departments: (a) Candidates possessing M. Tech/ M. E/ M. Sc. (Engg.)/ M. Arch or equivalent Degree in relevant branch from a recognized University/ Institute with Minimum 60% marks in aggregate or a CGPA of 6.5 in 10 point scale in the qualifying examination shall be considered for admission in the departments as per their Specialization only. (b) Candidates possessing B. Tech/ B. E/ B. Sc. (Engg.)/ B. Arch or equivalent Degree in relevant branch from a recognized University/ Institute may be considered in exceptional cases after approval of DRC, with i. Minimum 80% marks in aggregate or a CGPA of 8.5 in 10 point scale in all (from 10th onward) examinations including qualifying examination. ii. Must have passed qualifying examination not earlier than one year and iii. Have valid GATE Score with 98 Percentile or its equivalent. For Science Departments: Candidates possessing Master’s Degree in the area of Science from a recognized University/ Institute with Minimum 60% marks in aggregate or a CGPA of 6.5 in 10 point scale in the qualifying examinations shall be considered for admission in the departments as per their Specialization only. For Humanities & Social Science Departments1 : Candidates possessing Master’s Degree in the area of English or Economics from a recognized University/ Institute with Minimum 55% marks in aggregate (or a CGPA of 6.0 in 10 point scale) in the qualifying examinations shall be considered for admission in the departments as per their Specialization only.
Application Fee : Application fee of Rs. 1000/- for General/ OBC/ Sponsored category and Rs. 500/- for SC/ ST/ PH in the form of DD drawn in favour of National Institute of Technology Patna Payable at Patna
Scholarship & Financial Assistance for Ph. D. Program : Candidates admitted to Ph. D Program under full time category shall as per eligibility for scholarship as per rules of the Ministry of HRD Govt. of India, if the candidate full fills GATE/ NET (JRE) Score requirement for respective department as detailed above. Financial assistance may be allowed from other funding agencies, however such scholarship/ assistance shall be governed by rules and criterion of the funding agency only. Financial Assistance under TEQIP (equivalent to MHRD) to Doctoral candidates admitted to Doctoral Program, who do not have valid GATE Score or had not been admitted to Master’s Degree based on GATE Score (i.e. on only % marks of Bachelor’s Degree shall be awarded scholarship equivalent to MHRD as per provisions under TEQIP. Ph. D. Program Full Time Sponsored category candidates are not eligible for any Scholarship/ assistantship etc.
National Institute of Technology Patna is the 18th National Institute of Technology created by the Ministry of H.R.D. Government of India after rechristening the erstwhile Bihar College of Engineering Patna on 28. 01. 2004. NIT Patna marked its humble beginning in 1886 with the establishment of pleaders survey training school which was subsequently promoted of Bihar College of Engineering Patna in 1924. This made this institute the 6th Oldest Engineering Institute of India. The graduate level curriculum was later elevated to the post graduate level in 1978. The institute is situated on the south bank of holy river Ganges behind Gandhi Ghat, one of the most important and reverential place of Patna. The Gandhi Ghat is associated with the immersion of ashes of father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi in the river Ganges. The campus has a picturesque river view with historic building presenting a spectacle of architectural delight and natural beauty.
