Qualification : For Physics candidates:M.Sc. degree in Physics with a minimum of 60% marks, and who have cleared Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST 2012) and/or CSIR-UGC NET in 2011 (JRF, not lecturer ship). For Chemistry and Life Sciences candidates: M.Sc. degree with minimum 60% marks, in Chemistry or Life Sciences, and who have cleared joint CSIR-UGC Net in 2011 (JRF, not lecturer ship) and/or Gate 2012, are eligible to apply. Candidates with M.Sc. in Botany / Agricultural science should not apply.  Those applicants who are completing M.Sc. in summer of 2012 can also apply, provided they have minimum of 60% overall marks in the completed semesters. In the event of selection, mark sheet of the final M.Sc. result would have to be submitted by November 1, 2012. Continuation in the Ph.D. programme will be subject to the candidate obtaining minimum 60% marks overall. 5 year integrated M.S. (of IISERs) will be treated at par with 5 year integrated M.Sc.

Age limit : The candidates desirous of availing DAE fellowship should be born on or after August 1, 1986. The age limit is relaxable by three years for OBC, and by five years for SC/ST applicants.

Selection process : The selection of the students for the Ph.D. programme will be a two-step process: 1) Screening of short-list candidates, followed by 2) Interview of the short-listed candidates. For Physics candidates, the short-list shall be prepared based on applicant's score in JEST and/or CSIR-UGC NET 2011 (JRF, not lecturer ship). For Chemistry and Life Sciences candidates, the short-list shall be prepared based on applicant's score in CSIR-UGC Net 2011 (JRF, not lecturer ship), and/or GATE-2012.

Candidate apply Online. Two copies of the filled application form, affixed with passport-size photo on each, along with copies of documents should be sent to the  Administrative Officer-III, Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology, PO:CAT,  Indore 452 013 by Registered Post with A/D, or by Speed Post. Applicants are advised to preserve the dispatch receipt for future reference.
