AP to notify 1.16 lakh Govt jobs next month


The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, today said the State would notify about 1.16 lakh jobs across various levels of the Government administration and offer 1,00,000 appointment letters in the private sector. The latter will be done in the presence of the Prime Minister, Dr.Manmohan Singh's visit here.


Addressing captains of the industry at a meeting hosted here today to discuss the Rajiv Yuvakiranalu scheme, Mr Reddy said the State Government has taken up job creation and providing finishing school touches to the youth on a mission mode by engaging private sector participation. It is proposed to create over 15 lakh jobs in the State over three years, of this about five lakh during the current year.


“Apart from Government jobs to be notified next month, we would offer one lakh jobs by December. Of this, nearly 70,000 are being trained. We are confident of achieving this target. All those would be handed over offer letters during the Prime Minister's visit to the State, which is likely to be either in December last week or early January,” the Chief Minister said.


Quoting CII report on job opportunities, Mr Reddy said it had projected the State would be able to create additional jobs of over 7-8 lakh a year over the next few years in the private sector. “We are confident of achieving this target of five lakh jobs each year,” he told the industrialists present at the meeting.


Job creation has been taken up on mission mode with himself being the Chairman and aided by nine top bureaucrats in the State and assisted by a panel of experts from the private sector and Mr Dilip Chenoy, Chief Executive Officer of National Skills Development Council.


Mr G.V.K. Reddy, Chairman of the GVK Group, Mr G.M.Rao, Chairman of GMR Group, Mr B.V.R.Mohan Reddy of Infotech Enterprises, Mr V. Rajaiah of TCS, were among industrialists, who assured the necessary support to the State Government's efforts in skill upgradation to absorb youth into various sectors, spanning services and manufacturing.



Mr Chenoy said that NSDC has funded Rs 1,098 crore for setting up 32 skill development centres. Of them two — TMI and Talent Sprint are based in Andhra Pradesh.
