PGDIE: A COURSE WITH THE DIFFERENCE

PGDIE(Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Engineering) is the flagship program of NITIE, started in  1971,  to satiate the  need  of the  industry for  cross  functional competence. The PGDIE offered by NITIE is recognized by Govt. of India, Association of Indian Universities and AICTE. PGDIE is one of the very few courses that enjoy corporate excellence for over four decades. Its inception is to provide students with methodologies and systematic approaches to deal with diverse industrial challenges. PGDIE has evolved as a course for developing Techno Managers with cross-functional skills.

The  pedagogic  approach  of  the  program  includes  regular  industry  interaction  and  method  based teaching  with  present  and  future  scenarios  in  view.  The students go  through  a  rigorous  academic schedule and learn through most modern infrastructure and tools. The emphasis of the curriculum is on developing an all round personality that stands any challenge in the corporate world. The case studies, presentations, industry projects and co-curricular activities add to firsthand experience and learning.

The curriculum includes the domains of  Supply  Chain  Management,  Marketing,  Finance, Human Resources, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Management, Ergonomics, Information Technology Management and other management and productivity related fields.

In addition the curriculum includes 2 months summer internships where the students will apply their knowledge to solve the problems or to improve the process in the industries.

PGDIE ADMISSION PROCESS

Every candidate has to qualify through GATE 2011 or GATE 2012. Admissions to PGDIE course are open to graduates in all branches of Engineering/Technology or equivalent. The candidate must have first class degree (relaxable by 5% in case  for SC/ST/PD candidates).

After online application process, the short list will be declared by the institute for Group Discussion and Personal Interview which will be held at NITIE, Mumbai. Candidates need to submit a photocopy of GATE score card / printout of GATE score card from website.

Selection  of  Industry  sponsored  candidates with 2 years  industry experience is through personal interview only (No GATE Score Required)

A total of 127 seats are available. Reservation of SC/ST/OBC belonging to non-creamy layer and Physically Disabled candidates is according to Government regulation. Seats are also available for sponsored candidates.

• Application fee of Rs 1000/- (Rs 500/- in case of SC/SC/PD candidates) and applicable bank charges can be paid in the form of challan (downloadable from NITIE website) in any branch of State Bank of India.
• Hard copy of filled in online Application duly signed by the candidate should be sent to

"The  Deputy  / Assistant Registrar (Academics), NITIE ,Vihar Lake, Mumbai - 400087" ,along with Institute's copy of the challan and copies of the relevant certificates as mentioned in the Instructions section of the website.

The candidates applying for the Industry Sponsored Category (ISP) should fill in the Sponsorship Form also. GATE score is not required for ISP candidates
