1985-the year that brought about a renaissance in the world of video gaming, revolutionizing it to such an extent that saving “Princess Toadstool” from the antagonist browser seemed more intriguing and fascinating, than your own girlfriend making her the virtual “damsel in distress”.
Mario, Zelda, Contra, Metriod, Tetris, Sonic, space invaders and pong were some viral phenomena of yesterday, our yesterday.
The fantastic yesterday that featured a mixture of action, puzzles, adventure, battle, exploration, questing, slaying dragons and gobbling mushrooms accumulating mysterious coins that increased life, bringing peace to the kingdom-oh! Can I stop?
This indeed did transport us to a world of its own, a world where things were absolute, where good and bad were defined. Every action regulated by passion and ambition.
Grown now that we are, the realization that it was fiction dawns upon us, but is the ambition and passion lost?! Should it be lost?! All the memories, all the dreams, all the passions, we relive them, reenergize them, resurrect our dreams and passions and remember that impossible is nothing, and as we welcome the forthcoming year 2012, folks put your hands together for WORLD 1-2!!
Here is a glimpse of the manifold beauties we promise to unveil in the techno-cultural fest this year.
‘Til’ deaf do we part!’ All you rock fanatics and metal heads, get ready for some head banging, because this time there is no escaping it! The battle of bands is going to be an epic thing of sinister beauty. And the awesome prize money apart, guess what?! The winners get a chance to open for the Belgian metal band-THURISAZ! Dream like huh?
‘Glitterati’. Aaah guys bring out the hunk in you and all you lovely ladies out there get ready for some wolf -whistles –be the femme fatale! This fashion parade is only going to get bigger and better, so come participate or come witness this premium event. Get blown away by the splendour on the ramp.
Any boom boxes out there in the open? Yes? Get ready for some bloodshed because the ‘War of DJ’s’ is sure going to get your ears bleeding! No limits, no rules. Only music and all the groovy dance steps.
And a lot of other events to keep you engaged and entertained throughout. Some place where you can dance your soul out, defy gravity, disobey laws, the stage is your world and let your feet do the talking with the dance events. The group dance event, ‘Terpsichore’ or the solo event ‘Soul’O’. Duets interest you? We have a competition ‘Black O’ White’!
Let your heart out and your brushes speak in glorious colours and shades with the arts events. Be it the painting competition ‘Avant Garde’ or the sketching and charcoaling competition ‘Schedios’. If you are one of those who indulge in photoshop during your free time, we have an online event, ‘Art Effect’, where you can edit the pictures to your free will and walk away with the prize.
You can also dwell in the musical ecstasy with those guitars and drums and transport yourself to melodic paradise with all the music events. Jam with your new friends you made here and bring out interesting melodies in ‘Pearl Jam’. If you are more into Bollywood and Desi music, we have ‘Indiana Tones’ and ‘Gandhaara’ to interest you. You don’t have a band? Not to worry. Take centre stage and battle it out alone in ‘Jhankaar’. Because, the winner stands alone!


The fest this time is going to have a Technical aspect this year. We proudly present events like Line follower and Roborace where you are the master of your little Frankenstein. Let the crowd watch your monster follow the track and run to glory. Oh, so you can code, eh? Let’s see if you are up for the challenge because we have programming and coding events just to test how good you really are. We have events ranging from contraption and hovercraft building from our Mechanical department to popsicle bridge making from the Civil Department. Online stock markets, math crusades, seminars and quizzes, all to keep you enthralled.
Coming to our professional shows, we have a Belgian band, Thurisaz coming and performing for the first time on Indian soil! It’s time to forget your worries, let go of your inhibitions and qualm your fears as BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus reignites the inherent metal-head in you this Pearl! It’s time to lose yourselves to the overwhelming music and head-bang your way to ecstasy.
Following the footsteps of Degradead and Dark Tranquillity, we present to you Thurisaz, a progressive metal band from Belgium! Thurisaz is one of very few bands which have redefined the concept of metal with their unique sound and genre. They offer great variations in their music with high standard doom metal having lots of emotion and depth.
Thurisaz is slated to perform on the 18th of FEBRUARY, 2012.
We also have the versatile and accomplished musician Benny Dayal, and his troop performing for us one day before, on the 17th of FEBRUARY, 2012. They would be headlining our Bollywood night and this is going to be no less, we guarantee you.
So make sure you attend this celebration and revel in the excitement because we can assure you those four days will leave you wanting more!
