Study Options: Undergraduate and degree studies

Students have the option to select undergraduate study course either by course, institution or location. All tertiary institutions in New Zealand offer various undergraduate courses. These courses include one year Certificate programmes, to two year Diplomas and 3 or 4 year degrees etc. You will notice that most degrees are 3 year courses.

Students need to make sure that they meet the criteria for enrolling in undergraduate courses. They have to submit documents to prove their previous study records. If these documents are approved institutions will issue an Offer of Place confirming acceptance into the course conditional on fulfilling the English requirement.

Most tertiary institutions offer English language institutes and it is normal procedure for the institution to issue two Offers of Place, or one combined Offer of Place, which includes an English programme with the undergraduate course offer.

Note: The normal English requirement is IELTS (Academic) 6.0 or 6.5 average depending on the course. Institutions sometimes also require a minimum mark of 6.0 in the Writing module.

The semester entry dates for Tertiary institution course dates are around mid-February and mid-July each year.
Students usually apply for 6 month English programme in the beginning and while studying they will be in a better position to review their future study options.
