The Agency for Science, Technology and
Research (Singapore) launched the A * STAR India Youth
Scholarship in 2004. We received overwhelming response, with
applications from more than 900 candidates. Our pioneer
batch of scholars has since commenced studies and is doing
well in Singapore.
We are once again pleased to offer Scholarships this year to
outstanding students for studies in Singapore,leading to the
Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education
(Advanced Level). Scholars commence studies in top Singapore
Schools at Secondary 3 and will sit for the GCE
"A" level Examinations (or equivalent) at the end
of Pre-University 2.
A dynamic and global city, Singapore offers high education
standards and rich opportunities for research and higher
learning. More than just excellent grades, we look for
individuals who want to make a difference with their zest
for Science.
TERM OF ARARD
The Scholarship will provide a maintenance allowance of
S$2,200(Secondary) / S$2,400(Pre-University) per annum with
hostel accommodation, setting-in allowance, subsidised
medical benefits, school and examination fees, return
Economy Class air passage at the beginning and end of the
Scholarship term.
There is no bond attached to the scholarship. Scholars who
have done well can apply for further scholarships to pursue
university studies in Singapore or overseas universities.
WHO CAN APPLY
Students who are Indian nationals and completing Standard 8
in the year of application are eligible to apply. Applicants
should possess an outstanding academic track record (at
least an average of 85%) with English as first language in
the Standard 8 examinations.
SELECTION TESTS & INTERVIEWS
Short-listed candidates will be invited to sit for selection
tests in September 2005. Candidates will be further
shortlisted for an interview in November 2005. Both tests
and interviews will be conducted in India.
HOW TO APPLY
Detach and fill in the form below. Place it above certified
true copies of the following documents in the order
indicated below:
1. Certified copy of school examination results of Class 6,7
and 8
2. A curriculum vitae (not exceeding one page) with your
full name, mailing address and personal interests.
3. A list of your academic achievements / awards won and
participation in extra-curricular activities in Class 6, 7
and 8.
