OFFICE OF THE DIRECTOR GENERAL OF CIVIL AVIATION
Scheme for award of Scholarship / Stipend to the Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe candidates selected for Flying Training upto Private Pilot's Licence (PPL) standard in various Flying Clubs/ Schools during the financial year 2004-2005


Applications are invited from eligible candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribes under the above scheme so as to reach the Office of the Director General of Civil Aviation ( Training Section), Technical Centre, Opposite Safdarjung Airport , New Delhi by 30.05.2004.

Eligibility

1. Minimum Educational Qualifications : 10+2 or equivalent with Mathematics and Physics as subjects.

2. Income : Parents' / Guardians' income not exceeding Rs.44,500/- per annum.

3. Age : Between 17 to 20 years as on 01.04.2004.

4. Nationality : Indian.

5. Training Charges : Flying charges approved by DGCA upto PPL or 60 hrs. whichever is earlier, will be met by the Government.

6. Living Expenses : Rs.350/- per month for male candidates and Rs.450/- p.m. for female candidates restricted to a maximum period of 15 months.

7. Books : Rs.100/- per annum will be paid for the purchase of books.

8. Licence and Medical Examination Fees : Expenditure will be borne by the Govt.

9. Travelling Expenses : One single second class train fare at the time of reporting for flying training.

10. Number of Scholarships : 40

11. Insurance Premium : Up to the policy value of Rs.10,000/- will be borne by Government during the training period of one year.

12. Period of Scholarships :The total period of training will be 24 months ( from the date of joining) for the period actually spent to obtain a Private Pilot's Licence, whichever is earlier. The continuance of the Scholarship during the period of training will depend upon the satisfactory progress made by the trainees.

13. Training Institution :One of the approved Flying Clubs / Institutes to be selected by the Director General of Civil Aviation . A choice may be given by the candidates

14. Agreement : Selected candidates shall have to execute an Indemnity Bond indemnifying the training Institution as well as the Govt.for all possible injuries / accidents / damages for death during the period of training.

15. Selection : Initial selection of the candidates will be on the basis of their performance Knowledge , Maths , Physics & Chemistry.

17. Travelling & Living Expenses for Examination : No travelling or living allowance will be paid for appearing in the written examination. The decision of Director General of Civil Aviation for selection of candidates selected during the initial 10 hours of flying shall be final.
