New Scholarship
Scheme of Top Class Education for ST Students
The Ministry of Tribal Affairs has introduced a new Central
Sector Scholarship Scheme of Top Class Education for ST Students
with the objective of encouraging meritorious ST students for
pursuing studies at degree/post degree courses in 127 institutes,
covering the fields of management, medicine, Engineering, law and
various commercial courses. Each institute has been allocated 5
awards.
Eligibility of Students:
The ST students who secure admission in the listed institutions,
according to the norms prescribed by the respective institutions and
whose total family income from all sources does not exceed Rs.2.00
lakh per annum, will be eligible for the scholarship under the
scheme limited to the number of scholarships allocated to the
institutes concerned. In case the number of students admitted
exceeds the number of awards, then the scholarship will be
restricted to the first 5 students in the inter-se merit list.
Quantum of Scholarship:
The ST students will be awarded scholarship covering full tuition
fee and other non-refundable dues in respect of
Government/Government-funded institutions. However there will be a
ceiling of Rs.2.00 lakh per annum per student for private sector
institutions and Rs.3.72 lakhs per annum per student for the private
sector flying clubs for Commercial Pilot Training. In addition to
the above, the scholarship also provides for (i) living expenses @
Rs.2220/- per month per student subject to actuals, (ii) books and
stationary @ Rs.3000/- per annum per student and (iii) cost of a
latest computer system along with its accessories limited to
Rs.45000/- as one time assistance during the course
How to apply:
ST students who have gained admission in the course indicated
against the 127 listed institutions may, after joining, apply
through the institute where they have gained admission for the award
of the scholarship under this scheme.
