Academic Coordinator (Astronomy TLC project) at IUCAA under PMMMNMTT scheme/1 Post
Qualification
& Experience: Ph.D. in Astronomy/Physics/Mathematics followed by minimum 3
years of relevant professional experience.
Desirable Skills: Good domain
knowledge in Astronomy/Physics/Mathematics, leadership quality and management
skills, proficiency in English and at least one Indian language, proficiency in
handling office/publication software and internet-based tools, other skills
relevant for this centre.
Pay / Remuneration: Consolidated salary of up to Rs. 90,000/- p.m.
Age Limit: 45 years (Including relaxation)
Senior Research Staff (Astronomy TLC project) at IUCAA under PMMMNMTT scheme/1 Post
Qualification & Experience: Ph.D. in Astronomy/Physics/Mathematics. Project Coordinator (LIGO-India Education and Outreach) /1 Post
Qualification & Experience: Master’s degree in Science, Education or
Communication or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related areas, from a
recognized University.
Desirable Experience: Co-ordinating large-scale
educational events, Project management and media relations for large projects. Working with the scientific community in connecting them to
educators/public. Working in urban and rural areas for Science / Astronomy
popularisation.
Pay / Remuneration: Consolidated salary of up to Rs. 40,000/- p.m.

Project Assistant (LIGO-India Education and Outreach) /2 Posts
Qualification & Experience: Bachelor’s degree
(Physics/Mathematics/Astronomy/Engineering), from a recognized University.
Desirable Experience: The candidates must be proficient in: One year in
Science popularisation / Amateur astronomy in English, Hindi and Marathi .
Handling social media for large projects. Use of ICT, including proficiency
in using Office software and cloud-based tools as well as web development.Handling various Audio-Visual capture and editing tools.
Pay / Remuneration: Consolidated salary of up to Rs. 30,000/- p.m.

Optics/Electronics Engineer (Instrumentation Projects) /1 Post
Qualification & Experience: First Class Degree in B.Tech. / B.E. or M.Sc. (Optics, Electronics or allied areas).The candidate should have at least two years of experience working on design, development,integration and/or testing of scientific instruments preferably for space applications.
Desirable Skills: The following skill sets are expected for the position: Optical design, optimization and tolerance analysis. Alignment and assembling of optics for imaging/spectroscopy applications. Testing and debugging of complex electronics systems. Embedded System and Control Electronics Design
Hands on experience in using latest test and measurement tools in optics and electronics..
Knowledge of design software such as Zemax, COMSOL, ASAP, Solid works etc., will be of added
value. Software programming skills in C, C++ etc. will strengthen the candidature. Familiarity with
handling astronomical imaging sensors and controllers will be a plus. Any experience of working
on satellite payload development related activities will be highly valuable. The candidate should
explicitly mention in the application if he/she has any of these additional
skills/knowhow which will
be used for initial screening.
Pay / Remuneration: Rs. 37,000/- p.m. (Consolidated)

Project Assistant (IUCAA Science Toys project)/1 Post
Desirable Skills: The candidates must be proficient in: Ability to
cheerfully communicate about Science in English, Hindi and Marathi (both verbal
& written). Ability to do hands-on work with various tools. Computer skills
including proficiency in using software for office work & image editing.
Good social and management skills with a creative mindset and positive
scientific attitude.
Desirable Experience: 1-year experience in Science popularization
involving teachers and school students. Information about and experience in
using resources freely available for making scientific demonstrations and toys,
e.g., those created under the well-knowns “Toys from Trash” project.
