Job Description
Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar invites applications from the serving or retired scientists, academicians, engineers, professionals, and practitioners, policy makers in teaching/training/research, officials and managers for engagement as Adjunct Faculty in the following departments having experience of working in:
1. Post Name: Adjunct Faculty
2. No of positions 01 (one) adjunct Faculty per department
3. Qualifications and Experience: The candidates for adjunct faculty need to satisfy the following requirements:
a. Must be an accomplished professional in her/his field of discipline, comparable toat least the top one third of the regular faculty in professional expertise and reputation in their own fields and organizations.
b. Her/His association must add value to the academic programmes/students/department/Institute.
c. The person should have at least 10 years of experience in relevant field, however in emerging and cutting edge technologies, the persons with more than 5 years of experience can also be considered.
d. In case a candidate is from Industry/research organization, his/her domain knowledge should be of significant value. Possession of Post graduate/Ph.D. degrees may not be an essential qualification
4. Working conditions and honorarium:
a. The period of engagement shall be one semester initially or mutually agreeable, which may be extended further upto a period of two years.
b. She/he must spend at least eight days/semester and at least three weeks/academic year in the Institute.
c. TA/DA: Adjunct faculty would be approved TA/DA as per Institute Rules from place of stay to the Institute and back, maximum 6 times per academic year. The accommodation shall be provided in the Institute Guest House as per availability.
d. The adjunct faculty shall be paid honorarium on mutually agreeable terms depending upon the involvement in the Institute, corresponding to the minutes of 11th meeting of Council of NITSER held on 18.07.2018 (available on Institute Website) @ Rs. 1,80,000/- (Rupees One Lakh Eighty Thousand only) (per month); Rs. 8000/- (Rupees Eight Thousand only) per day or Rs. 2,000/- (Rupees Two thousand only) per hour as per requirement of the Institute.
5. Roles and Responsibility: The Adjunct Faculty will undertake the following assignments/activities:
a. Teaching core/elective courses.
b. Supervise students projects and co-supervise research scholars.
c. Be a Joint Investigator in sponsored R&D and consultancy projects.
d. Assist the department /Institute to break new ground with Industry in cutting edge technology and research with a view to develop IP and overcome technological barriers faced by the industries in becoming globally competitive.
e. Support Institute’s development activities with an Industry interface.
f. Setting of question papers and students’ performance evaluation in the subject of which s/he is associated.
g. Any other task/assignment/responsibility assigned by the concerned Department/Institute.
