Job Description

Your Role and Responsibilities
As Software specialist, you are responsible for creating the automated installation code that enables a software application or update to be sent electronically to an end-user device. You will utilize a variety of tools to create a software package that replicates the manual install of the application with desired options and settings. You will also perform integration testing of the package to ensure the software will successfully install. You will need to work alternate work schedules to meet global client needs.

Responsibilities:
  • Complete software packaging per the information listed in the package requirements form.
  • Complete Software Packaging activities to required timelines.
  • Perform complex troubleshooting activities to diagnose packaging issues.
  • Perform Quality Assurance activities to ensure package operates successfully in the customer environment.
  • Adhere to best practices, processes, procedures, documents and guidelines
  • Update workflow management tools to ensure all Software Packaging activity are tracked and recorded
  • Interface with all necessary groups or individuals (Ex: ASL)
  • Work with Transitions/Transformation teams to complete solutioned packaging work as described by the statement of work. This includes all Process Change Requests (PCRs) during Transition/Transformation
  • Schedule distribution of software packages to target audience through distribution tool within the required duration and time frame
  • Complete pre-distribution analysis to ensure the request includes the necessary information to fulfill the process.
  • Validate target lists or run queries to determine available target devices before scheduling the software distribution.
  • Import software packages into the distribution tool
  • Monitor the distribution throughout the distribution life cycle
  • Collect distribution results and provides a status report to the Account Solution Lead.
  • Update workflow management tools to ensure all Software Distribution activities are tracked and recorded
  • Escalate or report any issues that may compromise the distribution timeframes or success
  • Perform software distribution remediation on unsuccessful endpoints per account procedures
  • Adhere to best practices, processes, procedures, documents and guidelines
  • Perform complex troubleshooting activities to diagnose software distribution issues.
  • Work with Transitions/Transformation teams to complete solutioned deployment work as described by the statement of work. This includes all Process Change Requests (PCRs) during Transition/Transformation
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in Windows / Apple / Linux desktop operating systems, components and configuration
  • Working knowledge of software packaging tools (e.g., InstallShield, Admin Studio, App V, ThinApp, XenApp), Intune
  • Proficient in scripting Languages (e.g., VBS, Perl, Batch Scripting and PowerShell)
  • Expertise in Virtualization Platforms (e.g., VMware ESX/Workstation, Hyper-V, VirtualBox)
  • Hands-on experience in SCCM2012 & 2016 with skills in managing troubleshooting deployment issues
  • Solid experience of Active Directory and Group Policy
  • Validated knowledge of RPM and APT for creating packages in Linux environment
  • Experience in use of process monitoring tools to analyze application behaviors for analysis and troubleshooting purposes
  • Experience in problem and change management processes and tools
  • Ability to produce MSI packages from legacy applications
  • Ability to create transform files for vendor based MSI’s
