Job Description
The Human Resources Assistant plays an important role in laying the foundation for attracting and selecting highly mission driven, competent and diverse talent to fulfil Teach For India’s vision. The Assistant is a partner in the applicants’ journey right from screening applications to ensuring smooth onboarding. He/she is instrumental in providing insights from research and maintaining a strong hiring infrastructure that informs the overall talent acquisition strategy.
Primary responsibilities include:
Partner in Applicant’s Journey
- Reviewing all staff applications and responding to applicants within prescribed timelines
- Conducting phone reviews and also ensuring that interviews are conducted by others (within and outside the team) with an objective to minimize the TAT (turnaround time)
- Conducting reference checks effectively and within prescribed timelines
- Implementing a seamless process for onboarding
- Ensuring receipt and maintenance of all relevant documentation for new hires
- Supporting with hiring related research on best practices and hiring channels
- Using this research to ensure that Teach For India postings have a regular presence through hiring channels
- Using the online data management system to work on hiring related reports and culling out basic trends to inform hiring practices
- Maintaining a repository of job descriptions for all roles in the organization
- Taking ownership of the timely update of Teach For India’s Careers Page
- Working closely with team members in the National and City HR team and helping them towards achieving shared team outcomes.
- Proficient in the use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Google Sheets and Docs
