Job Description
- JOB TITLE: Aftercare Associate
- LOCATION: Mumbai
- To work towards a holistic program of care and protection of victims who are trafficked, abused and missing.
- To manage, coordinate and mentor a team of social workers/case workers.
- To model social work values, ethics, Knowledge and skills.
- Maintain a professional attitude at all times and have open and transparent communication.
- Coordination with social workers/case workers, conduct meetings and strategize after care related work.
- Network with government and NGO staff and shelter homes to mobilize resources for victims and for their care and protection.
- Management of cases and their systematic follow ups.
- Report writing, budget planning and developing aftercare protocols and processes.
- Ensuring open and smooth communication with team members, MDRU team and line manager for the smooth functioning of the aftercare discipline and the entire organization.
- Program:
- Fully understand the process of case work, relevant victim protection and custody laws and procedures.
- Engage key aftercare stakeholders with the aim of providing quality care for trafficked people.
- Provide on-going psycho-social support for rescued victims.
- Involve the victim in a reintegration plan for their future and whenever required a repatriation plan.
- Ensure that victims receive legally-mandated aftercare protections.
- Develop and continually modify aftercare best-practices and training manual and materials.
- Maintain a professional relationship with all staff in the office.
- Nurture and maintain professional relationships within the team.
- Develop a healthy rapport with victims within boundaries.
- Maintain professional relationship with staff of the government homes, Private after care facilities, Child welfare committee members, DWCD and other relevant organizations.
- Host visits by guests, teams, interns and volunteers.
- Follow ups:
- Regular follow up with the rescued people.
- Develop rehabilitation plans for victims which are case specific.
- Constant follow up of victims through personal visits, phone calls, partner NGOs and other offices of Justice and Care
- Networking:
- Network with government officials, NGOs, Child Welfare Committees and other stakeholders along with the MDRU team.
- Develop and maintain relationships with staff and authorities in the shelter homes.
- Develop/ identify educational, vocational, job opportunities and training programs for the rescued people.
- Work with the Aftercare team and MDRU to prepare for the pre- post and the rescue operation.
- Ensure the care and protection of victims at the time of the rescue and facilitate victim’s statement at the police station
- Document case histories, follow up and status of victims regularly
- Coordinate Home Inquiry Reports (HIR) of the victim either through partner NGOs, other offices of Justice and Care or initiate new partners when required.
- Ensure that detailed and timely reports are maintained for of all aftercare team activities and meetings.
- For e.g. Intake sheets, follow up reports, HIR, relevant documents for each case, weekly update of victim status sheet and assist in compilation of MDRU and monthly reports in rotation.
- Ensure that all follow up reports of victims are submitted to the after care homes and a copy is maintained in the office.
- Recruiting and Training Volunteers
- Recruit and train volunteers to assist with rescues, group activities in the shelter homes and other aftercare-related activities
- Ensure that volunteers and interns are sufficiently debriefed and sign NDA’s.
- Management
- Conduct monthly performance reviews with your team members
- Deal with performance or behavior-related issues quickly
- Ensure that teams members are meeting their targets
- Ensure professionalism at all times
- Ensure that the various policies are being adhered to by yourself and your team
- Carry out other additional assignments given by the line manager.
- Maintain confidentiality of privileged and sensitive information.
