Examination Fees : SC/ST candidates – Examination fees – Rs. 300/-. GM, Cat I, Cat II a, Cat IIb, Cat IIIa, Cat III b candidates – Examination fee is Rs. 700/-. Those who are making payment at SBI Branches (through Challan) should take a print out of challan and pay the fees at the nearest SBI branch. All SBI branches shall start accepting the challan from 13.6.2016. The last date for payment of application fee by all modes is 12.7.2016

Recruitment Process: The selection will be made strictly as per merit, on the basis of written examination. Short listed candidates will be called for verification of the original documents and Kannada test followed by Medical Fitness Test, if cleared in the verification and Kannada test. 25 questions on general topics, 15 questions on mathematics at SSLC level, 15 questions on Electrical topics, 15 questions on mechanical topics, 15 questions on Electronics, and 15 questions on Civil / Carpentry topics.

For the post of Train Operators:

25 questions on general topics, 20 questions on electrical topics, 20 questions on electronics, 20 questions on communication and 15 questions on mechanical topics.

For the post of Section Engineers:

25 questions on general topics, 15 questions on computer science, 15 questions on electronics & communication, 15 questions on mechanical, 15 questions on electrical and 15 questions on civil topics.

The written test will be held on Sunday 18th September 2016. Request for postponement of the examination or change of centre/venue will not be entertained under any circumstances.

In 1982, a study suggested that the MRTS should have a route length of 12.20 km. and pegged the cost at Rs. 239.15 crores. In 1983, the Metropolitan Transit Project, an organization of Indian Railways, prepared a feasibility report for provision of suburban rail services on existing lines, a circular railway of 57.9 km. metro system on two corridors, in Phase-I 12.9 km. from Rajajinagar to Jayanagar and in Phase - II 11.2 km. from Hudson Circle to Krishnarajapuram. In 1988, a World Bank aided study was carried out by RITES and the study recommended a Commuter Rail System along with improvement of road transport system.
