Qualification: M.Sc in Physics/Photonics/Laser Science/Opto-Electronics/Optics with NET qualification. Preference will be given having at least 70% marks. Or M.E/M.Tech in Optoelectronics/photonics/Optics/Electronics and Communication. Preference will be given having at least 70% marks

Ray, the then Chief Minister of West Bengal in presence of eminent personalities : Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, Prof. C.V. Raman, Dr. Meghnad Saha and others. Dr. S.S. Bhatnagar was then Director-General of CSIR while Dr. Atma Ram was Director of the Institute.
