- Job Title:Impactt Utthan trainer
- Location:Mumbai, India
- Reports to:Country Manager
- Responsible for:Delivering training and supporting Impactt team to deliver project work in Mumbai
- The trainer will work on Utthan, a programme run by Impactt and supported by brands and exporters. Utthan seeks to upskill hand embroidery artisans (karigars) in Mumbai. The trainer will be a key contributor to the objectives of Utthan:
- “To empower karigars in the Mumbai hand embroidery cluster to gain recognition for their skills and a dignified livelihood”
- The trainer will spend approximately 60% of their time training and the remaining time will be spent managing data and supporting exporters.
- The trainer has the following responsibilities, working with the rest of the India team and all Impactt offices:
- Training
- Deliver high quality training modules on life skills such as leadership and finance.
- Deliver current Utthan training modules to groups of karigars in embroidery workshops
- Provide feedback on how modules can be improved
- Should develop and maintain excellent relationships with exporters and support them to improve safety in their units
- Shadow technical skills training on hand embroidery and build knowledge of technical training.
- Work in partnership with the technical trainer to ensure smooth programme delivery and best results
- Data management
- Follow Impactt’s administrative and project management procedures
- Gather data from artisans using surveys and accurately input into an Excel spreadsheet
- Send data to Delhi team in a timely manner.
- Support exporters
- Develop strong relationship with exporters.
- Together with Impactt Delhi team, support sites to make improvement to basic health and safety on site:
- Persuade sites to implement new ways of working
- Check implementation of health and safety measures
- Core competencies required
- 6-7 years+ experience in delivering training / facilitating workshops (or equivalent academic qualifications may also be considered)
- Experiencing in building relationships with factory management and supporting them to take action
- Practical knowledge of ethical trade and knowledge of the garment industry and/or informal working in India
- Ability to work with remote management support (management team in based in Delhi)
- Ability to accurately gather and input data
- Excellent communication and listening skills
- Proven track record to organise and co-ordinate oneself and others
- Good written and spoken English
- Excellent written and spoken Hindi
- At least basic proficiency Microsoft skills, including PowerPoint and excel
- Self-starter and team player
- Ability to multi-task
- Experience in delivering life skills training
- Confidence with numbers and ability to analyse basic excel data
- Proficient in Microsoft skills, including PowerPoint and excel
