About The Team
The principal goal of the News Discovery Optimization team is to enhance the quality of metadata applied to News content. Our team creates fixes for the algorithm that is responsible for company tagging. By working on a company per company basis, we can make sure that each and every company is tagged correctly. We also proactively monitor company tagging using different reports to make sure we can spot any potential issue before our customers do. Apart from that we also respond to issues raised by our clients to provide them with a better experience. Topic tagging allows our customers to filter the News content down to the stories that are of interest to a given person. If an investor wants to know all about upcoming name changes in Australian companies, they can use relevant Topics and Geography codes to filter all the news instead of going through the whole content flowing in. Investors are often interested in particular types of events, that’s why they need the filtering to be of very high precision. They also need the recall to be good enough, so that they don’t miss anything important.

Some Of Your Daily Tasks
- Creating topic tagging and keyword strings related to given topics and, assessing its relevance,
- Fixing company tagging issues
- Providing analysis-driven feedback on problematic tagging trends and recommending improvements to the process/workflow
- Working with the team on tagging and solving complex cases to establish standard methodologies and provide the most effective solutions
- Dealing with any ad-hoc requests and sideline projects related to news tagging, such as ad-hoc quality evaluations, and mapping, etc.
