About the internship

Credit analysts assess and make decisions about customer credit applications using a range of criteria including the purpose of the application, credit viability, customer payment history, and customer credit-worthiness.

Selected intern's day-to-day responsibilities include:

1. Analyzing credit data and financial information of persons or companies that are applying for credit or loans
2. Gathering information about clients
3. Reading financial briefings
4. Assessing, analyzing and interpreting complicated financial information
5. Undertaking risk analysis by developing statistical models
6. Keeping company credit exposures within set risk bearing limits
7. Using credit-scoring systems for small credit amounts (such as small unsecured personal loans)
8. Keeping knowledge of key issues up-to-date (for example legal, market risk and compliance issues)
9. Helping to enhance the quality of credit applications
10. Making recommendations about procedural/policy changes

Other requirements

1. Credit analysts need at least a bachelor's degree (this degree should be in a field, such as finance, accounting, or business)

2. Areas of study that credit analysts will need to be familiar with include: accounting, finance, ratio analysis, statistics, economics, calculus, financial statement analysis, and risk assessment
