Job Description

The successful candidate will work on IHS Markit’s Data & Analytics team, contributing to databases of political and violent events around the world.

Successful Applicants Will Have

An aptitude for working quickly and accurately on repetitive tasks involving the assessment and structuring of high volumes of data;
The ability to apply logic, intuition, and exceptional attention to detail in identifying key factual data;
A demonstrated interest in open-source research, including the tools and methods for efficiently finding, evaluating the credibility of, and monitoring information across the web and social media.
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English;
Record of swiftly reading and understanding information;
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, and ability to learn and use proprietary content management systems;
An ability to work in a team environment as well as individually with limited support/guidance;
Be well-organised and have the flexibility to collaborate/change tasks when necessary.

Tasks Include (Monday-Friday, Day Shift)

Monitoring of open sources of information for political and security risk events, and – in conjunction with colleagues and machines – accurately classify, annotate, and write summaries of these events.
Reviewing large volumes of machine- and human-generated data on political and security events, and diligently performing a range of quality-control tasks.
Working on ad hoc projects involving collection or quality-control of events, or research into specific subjects.
