Diagnose and treat problems with a patient's teeth, gums, and related parts of the mouth. Provide advice and instruction on taking care of teeth and gums and on diet choices that affect oral health.
Promoting oral health and disease prevention.
Creating treatment plans to maintain or restore the oral health of their patients.
Interpreting x-rays and diagnostic tests.
Ensuring the safe administration of anesthetics.
Have to know basic life support and handle emergency situations.
An excellent knowledge of and interest in science, particularly the science of oral health.
Good eyesight.
Good manual dexterity and a steady hand.
The ability to concentrate for long periods of time.
The ability to use specialist equipment.
