Job Description
ICRISAT seeks applications for the post of Farming Systems Scientist.
Essential: PhD in Agriculture (Crop and Soil Sciences, Agronomy) or Agro-meteorology with at least 3 years post-Ph.D. experience, including work on relevant aspects of climate services or climate adaptation for smallholder agriculture.Demonstrated expertise in research and implementation of climate services for agriculture, potentially including communications and institutional aspects.Demonstrated expertise in implementing, monitoring and analyzing agronomic trials.Demonstrated capabilities in project or program management, including: supervision of project-based personnel, ensuring collaboration and coordination of project activities among partners, monitoring managing project resources, and reporting project results.
Very strong analytical skills, with knowledge of GIS/remote sensing and crop modelling and the use of common statistical software packages, including climate analysis packages (e.g. Instat, SPSS, SAS, STATA, Genstat).Strong organizational skills, client orientation and communication skills, and an ability to work effectively in multicultural and multidisciplinary teams.
The ability to build relationships with donors, governments and NGOs. Demonstrated expertise in research and implementation of climate services for agriculture, potentially including communications and institutional aspects.Good publication record, as evidenced by senior authored research papers in refereed journals.

Desirable: Demonstrated ability to write proposals and fund raise.

General:This is an internationally recruited staff (IRS) position for three years with an attractive and competitive salary and benefits package payable in US dollars.
