Technology Stack

• 100pins, which has both a desktop version and a mobile version, currently uses the following stack (all of this is expected to evolve):
• Front-end: HTML, CSS, Javascript, AngularJS, jQuery
• Back-end: PHP, MySQL, ElasticSearch, Redis, NodeJS, Laravel (framework), Beanstalkd
• Server: Linux, Apache
• Mobile app: Ionic framework (the app is a hybrid app), Swift (iOS app plugins), Java (Android plugins)
• Cloud: Hosted on Digital Ocean with auto-scaling enabled, servers use Docker and Kubernetes

Job Description

• The best part about working for 100pins is that from day one you will be exposed to the entire architecture/stack of the product. 
• The database schema/model, the back-end coding framework, the mobile app UI framework, the hosting infrastucture and software, and the queueing methodology will all be exposed to you as soon as you want to take a look at it all. 
• And you will also be welcome and encouraged to suggest ways to continuously make the application faster, more secure, and less expensive to host.
• Aside from being a great exposure to how a world-class application is built, managed and hosted, this also gives you an opportunity to learn a lot of new technologies. And that is how you become a true world-class full-stack engineer.
• You will be responsible for developing new features of the application, enhancing the performance of the existing features, and fixing bugs. 
• While 90% of your role will be hands-on coding, you will also play a key role in architecting and evolving the application (and transforming it if necessary).

Your essential functions will be:

• Creating new modules in Laravel (PHP), and using Ionic/ AngularJS to deliver them on mobile and AngularJS to deliver them on web
• Ensuring a database architecture, and data storage tools and platforms, that best suit the huge data that the application accumulates
• Moving to a micro-services architecture as relevant to the application and business
• Ensuring high performance (speed of user experience) of the application
• Ensuring high security standards of the application
• Ensuring high availability of the application, and zero data loss in case of outage / disaster
• Ensuring lowest possible hardware / infrastucture / hosting costs for the given technology and business objectives
• Incorporating world-class coding practices in the code base
• Incorporating world-class documentation practices
• Making as much of the app as possible load from the web (so that we do not need to wait for users to upgrade app to newer versions to benefit from newer features), and eventually moving app to a PWA
• Interfacing with clients when specific situations warrant that
