About Gramshree Women Empowerment (Craftroots)
Inspired by the former chief minister of Gujarat, Anandiben Patel, Craftroots is a platform that links various stakeholders of the handicraft ecosystem such as traditional artisans, NGOs, clusters, corporates, academic institutes, end consumers, and designers to develop, promote and nurture a sustainable and scalable model for handicraft development.
Over the last two decades, the organization has touched more than 45 craft forms, engaged with over 25000 artisans directly and indirectly across more than 50 other NGOs and organizations, empowered clusters and communities across many states (majorly Gujarat), and promoted handicraft products to thousands of end consumers across more than 5 different countries.
In the last 10 years, we have worked with hundreds of women from less privileged backgrounds by providing them skill development training on various crafts and employing them for work. The holistic development of these women and artisans is our prime motto.
