Job Description
About the internship
Selected intern's day-to-day responsibilities include:
1. Welcome customers when they arrive at a restaurant, cafe, or other eating establishments
2. Introduce customers to the menu and announce daily or seasonal menu specials
3. Answer questions about menu items, ingredients, and pricing
4. Take customers' orders for food and drink by writing them on a ticket, entering them into a tablet, or memorizing them
5. Pass customer orders along to kitchen staff for preparation
6. Prepare drinks and serve them to customers
7. Collect food orders from the kitchen, verify that they are correct, and serve them to customers
8. Ensure that customers are satisfied with their meals and process orders for additional courses if necessary
9. Remove used dishes, glasses, and flatware from tables
10. Prepare cheques and deliver them to customers
11. Process cash and credit card payments and returns change to customers if necessary
12. Set tables with dishes, glasses, and flatware and refill condiments
13. Maintain familiarity with menu items, specials, and restaurant information
14. Meet with managers and wait for staff daily or regularly in order to learn about menu changes and specials as well as discuss upcoming reservations and customers with special needs
