Job Summary

  • The work is purely administrativein nature, involves documenting grievances, terminations, absences, performance reports, and compensation and benefitsinformation. 
  • Beyond administrative duties, however, HR assistants are also often involved in recruiting, hiring new employees.

Responsibilities and Duties

Daily job dutiesof human resourcesspecialists include:

  • Preparing or updating employment records related to hiring, transferring, promoting, and terminating.
  • Explaining human resourcespolicies, procedures, laws, and standards to new and existing employees.
  • Ensuring new hire paperwork is completed and processed.
  • The role of an HR manager is to manage, create, implement and supervise policies/regulations, which are mandatory for every employee and also have knowledge of its appropriate functioning.
  • Maintains the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions.
  • Maintains a pay plan by conducting periodic pay surveys; scheduling and conducting job evaluations; preparing pay budgets; monitoring and scheduling individual pay actions; recommending, planning, and implementing pay structure revisions.
  • Maintains management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures.
  • Maintains historical human resource records by designing a filing and retrieval system; keeping past and current records.
  • Processing incoming mail
  • Creating and distributing documents
  • Providing customer service to organization employees
  • Serving as a point of contact with benefit vendors/administrators
  • Maintaining computer system by updating and entering data
  • Setting appointments and arranging meetings
  • Maintaining calendars of HR management team
  • Compiling reports and spreadsheets and preparing spreadsheets

Required Experience, Skills and Qualifications

  • Must be adept at problem-solving, including being able to identify issues and resolve programs in a timely manner
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to communicate clearly, both written and orally, as to communicate with employees, members of the HR management team, and in group presentations and meetings
  • Must be able to effectively read and interpret information, present numerical data in a resourceful manner, and skillfully gather and analyze information
  • Must be able to prioritize and plan work activities as to use time efficiently
  • Must be organized, accurate, thorough, and able to monitor work for quality
  • Must be dependable, able to follow instructions, respond to management direction, and must be able to improve performance through management feedback
