IACS conducts Ph.D. Programme in Kolkata

Integrated M.Sc.-Ph.D. Program in “Chemical and Molecular Biology

Eligibility: First division at 10 and 10+2 level . Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Life science or Chemistry.

At least 55% aggregate marks (taking into account all subjects, including Languages and Subsidiaries, all years combined) for General/OBC-NCL category candidates and at least 50% aggregate marks (taking into account all subjects, including Languages and Subsidiaries, all years combined) for SC/ST and PwD category candidates in the qualifying degree.

For candidates with letter grades/CGPA, the candidate should secure at least 6.0 CGPA in 10 point scale.

Proof of having passed the Qualifying Degree with the Minimum Educational Qualifications (MEQ) as specified by the admitting institute should be submitted by September 30, 2016.

Reservation of seats will be as per MHRD norms.
 
Fellowship:  Admitted students will be entitled to a stipend of Rs. 12,000/- p.m. (fixed) for the first two years subject to adequate performance and other rules of the Institutes. On successful completion of the M.Sc. course, students obtaining a CGPA above a certain stipulated level will be considered for admission into Ph.D. program following the prevailing norms of the admitting institute. It may not be possible to provide accommodation for all selected candidates during part of the coursework being conducted at IACS. Students will be accommodated in the hostel during their stay at IIT Kharagpur.

Application fee: Rs. 500/- for General and Rs. 250/- for SC/ST/OBC candidates.
 
Application fees will have to be sent by a demand draft in favor of “Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science” payable at Kolkata and to be sent with the application. Application fee will not be returned if the application is rejected for any reason or if the candidate does not appear for the written test.
 
Selection Procedure: Candidates will be short-listed for a written test to be held at IACS, Kolkata.
 
Candidates further shortlisted on the basis of written test will be called for an interview, out of which maximum ten (10) candidates will be selected for admission.
