Job Description
Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Bhopal (IISER Bhopal) invites application for the position Project Scientist-I
Duration: Initially for 1 year, extendable upon satisfactory performance.
Salary: Rs. 56,000 per month + HRA. Increment of 5% for every 2 years of experience subject to performance review.
Minimum qualifications: The position requires a Ph.D. in Physics, Atmospheric Sciences, Atmospheric Chemistry, or related fields from a recognized University/Institute. The candidate will be required to participate in field campaigns and laboratory chemical analysis. Expertise in aerosol chemical analyses including sample preparation and analysis on EDXRF, IC, ICP-OES, TOT/TOR carbon analysis are required. Experience in TD-GC-MS is an advantage. The candidate should also have good verbal and written communication skills as well as be experienced in the standard computing languages such as C/C++ and be able to perform required data analyses on MATLAB or similar open source software.
Desirable qualifications: In addition to the minimum qualifications, experience with analysis of hyper-spectral satellite data such as that from OMI, GOME-2, AIRS, MODIS, or IASI is also desirable. Working knowledge of running dispersion models, receptor models or applying other Bayesian approaches for aerosol source apportionment is a distinct advantage.
Responsibilities: The candidate will be responsible for leading filter based aerosol sampling and chemical analyses, data quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) and validation. Site visits to sampling locations in West Bengal will be required from time-to-time. The candidate will also participate in aerosol source apportionment using US-EPA PMF5 and other expanded ME models. The candidate will be responsible for coordination and preparation of various reports required in connection with the execution of the project.
Age Limit: Preferably below 32 years but no more than 35 years
