Technical Officer recruitment in IIT Guwahati

Technical Officer/ GRADE- II / 12 posts (UR-06, SC-02, ST –1 , OBC-03)

(i) Department: Bioscience & Bioengineering / 01 OBC

Essential Qualification & experience : BE/ BTech/ MSc. in Biotechnology/ Chemical Engineering/Biochemical Engineering and preferably with one year working experience.

Desired qualification & experience : M.Tech/ Ph.D. in relevant discipline & handling and maintenance of sophisticated equipment, laboratory maintenance, coordination of departmental activities and its administration, teaching of UG/PG laboratory courses, and inventory management.

(ii) Department of Chemical Engineering / 01 OBC

Essential Qualification & experience : BE/ B.Tech in Chemical Engineering and preferably with one year working experience. Desired qualification & experience : First Class BE/ B.Tech in Chemical Engineering. Minimum one year experience in operation and maintenance of common Chemical Engineering laboratory equipments. Thorough knowledge of various computer softwares.

(iii) Dept. of Electronics and Electrical Engineering / 01 UR

Essential Qualification & experience : BE/BTech in Electronics/ Electrical/ Instrumentation Engineering, M.Sc. (Electronics) and preferably with one year working experience.

Desired qualification & experience : BE/ B.Tech in Electronics / Electrical/ Instrumentation Engineering, M.Sc. (Electronics) with a First Class and preferably one year of relevant experience.

(iv) Department of Physics/ 01 UR

Essential Qualification & experience : BE/ B.Tech/ MSc. in Physics / M.Sc in Electronic Science and preferably with one year working experience. Desired qualification & experience : M.Sc. in Physics / B. Tech. (Engineering Physics)/ M.Sc. in Electronic Science with first class. For candidates with M.Sc. in Physics, Electronics Specialization is preferred. One year working experience in Physics or Applied Physics research laboratories will carry extra weightage. Working knowledge in computer controlled experimental setups for data acquisition is desirable. Prior knowledge in server maintenance (data and web servers), and web based applications, and in handling some of the major equipments such as – X-ray diffractometer, would be of added advantage.

(v) Dept. of Mathematics / 01 post (Reserved for SC)

Essential Qualification & experience: B.E./ B.Tech./ M.Sc. in Computer Science/Information Technology and preferably with one year experience Desired qualification and experience: (A) Experience : Five years out of which three years should be in similar working environment.

(B) Desirable knowledge:  In-depth knowledge of Linux environment, Unix Shell Scripts. Experience in development of web based applications and sound knowledge of programming Languages like HTML/NET/PHP/ASP etc, and RDBMS like SQL Server, MySQL, and good analytical, comprehension and writing skills. Adequate knowledge in the Server Hardware and Software Management functions and effectively foreseeing problems that can occur in the services that are configured in the server, and also ensuring system software configurations fixes that can remedy the problems as and when they occur. Competence to upgrade the network, proactively configure to the future technologies, introduce new services, establish communication links across multiple domains and analyze system logs. Knowledge in troubleshooting network devices such as routers, switches, firewall and spam filters. Knowledge of asset/inventory register.

(vi) Centre for Nanotechnology/02 posts (1 OBC; 1 SC)

Essential Qualification & experience : BE/ BTech/ MSc. in Physics, Chemistry and preferably with one year working experience.

Desired qualification & experience : BE/ B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering or M.Sc. in Physics and Chemistry with a First Class with special knowledge, experimental skill and experience of working in research / teaching laboratories in one or more of the above fields preferably for one year and ability to come up with original ideas would be preferred. Person with ability to run sophisticated instruments and experimental laboratories would have edge over others and previous work experience involving area(s) related to Nanotechnology would be helpful. A Scientific Officer of Grade II is expected to have the leadership ability in setting up and running modern laboratories involving one or more of the above fields.

vii) Department of Mechanical Engineering /02 posts (Both the posts are UR)

Essential Qualification & experience : BE/BTech in Mechanical Engineering and preferably with one year working experience.

Desired qualification & experience : (i) ME/MTech in Mechanical Engineering, preferably with one year experience in the operation and maintenance of sophisticated equipment relevant to mechanical engineering laboratories. Candidates with an exposure to engineering / scientific research will be given preference. (ii) Candidates with BE/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering and more than 3 (three) years experience in relevant areas like maintenance of laboratory equipment, assistance in conducting laboratory classes etc. will be preffered. Note: For internal/ departmental candidates, engineering degree, in allied areas with experience relevant to mechanical engineering will also be considered.

viii) Department of Design : 3 posts (2 UR ; 1 ST )

Essential Qualification & experience : BDes/ MDes or Masters in design relevant subjects & preferably with one year working experience.

Desired qualification & experience : For Communication Design (One post) : Five years of working experience in Graphic Design, Printing etc. For Media Lab (Two posts) : Five years of working experience of video equipment, photography equipment, lighting studio, editing, video conferencing etc.

Pay Band : Rs.15600-39100

Age : Below 35 years
