Job Description
The Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) is an autonomous research organization fully funded by Ministry of Earth Sciences, New Delhi. It is a premier Institute of national and international repute, devoted to research in various aspects of atmospheric sciences with emphasis on tropical meteorology, particularly on the Climate Change and Indian Monsoon. It is proposed to recruit the following posts as detailed below:
1. Name of Post: Project Scientist –II
2. Pay: 67,000/- + HRA
3. No of posts: 38
A. Project Scientist – II (Hydrometeorology Observations, SoilMoisture Measurements and Applications)
4. Essential Qualification: Master’s Degree in Engineering or Technology from a recognized university in Electronics / Instrumentation/ Electrical/Mechanical / Civil/ Energy/ or equivalent subject. Three years’ field experience in working with Hydrometeorological instruments/sensors.
5. Desirable Qualification :
a. Master’s Degree in Engineering with at least 60% marks or equivalent in qualifying degree level and Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology from a recognized University in Electronics/ Instrumentation/ Electrical/ Civil /Energy/ Mechanical Engineering or equivalent subject with at least 60% marks or equivalent at the qualifying degree level.
b. R&D for up-gradation of Hydro-meteorological observing network and to maintain the observational network.
c. Expertise in on-field calibration, validation and theoretical analysis for COSMOS probs. Expertise in installation, operation & maintenance of Technical and scientific Meteorological instruments on observational towers at multiple vertical levels.
