Job Description
Indian Statistical Institute is inviting applications from highly motivated and eligible candidates for the recruitment of one (01) Project Linked Junior Research Fellow (.JRF) purely on temporary basis to work full time in the project titled "A study on chemical constituents of rice root modulating hcrbivory by the rice root knot nematode Meloidogyne graminicola: a chemical ecology perspective", funded by the Science and Engineering Research Board (CRG/2020/002601), Government of India and to be carried out at the Agricultural and Ecological research Unit of the Institute, Giridih branch, Jharkhand.

3. Essential:
i. Master's degree in Agricultural Entomology/ Plant Pathology/ Nematology/ Biotechnology/ Biochemistry/ Botany/ Zoology from a recognised University, with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade.
ii. In addition, the candidate must have qualified NET or GATE or any equivalent examination as per the SERB office order SB/S9/Z-06/2019.
iii. Those who are completing M.Sc. in 2021 are also eligible to apply but, if selected, their appointment will be allowed only after successful completion of the M.Sc. degree (along with fulfilment of all other desired criteria)
4. Desirable: (a) Previous work experience in plant-pest interaction; (b) Publications of peer reviewed journal article; (c) Ability to write project report, research paper and make presentations.
5. About the project: The project aims to identify the sociochemical bases of rice root exudates and VOCs regulating chemotaxis of graminicola J2s modulating herbivory.
6. Pay: 31,000/- (Rupees thirty one thousand only) plus H.R.A. per month as per ISi rules
7. Tenure of appointment: Initial appointment will be for one year from the date of his/ her joining the institute which may be extended later/ terminated earlier based on performance and availability of the required fund
Age Limit:
Should not exceed 35 years as on 01 August 2021. Age may be relaxed for SC/ ST/ OBC/ differently abled candidates. Age relaxation may be given to outstanding candidates or candidates with relevant experience.
