Project Title : “Marker assistaed introgression of different traits to develop new generation rice varieties”

Qualification : Post Graduate Degree in Agriculture with specialization in plant breeding/Genetics/Biotechnology/Plant Molecular biology OR Post Graduation in basic Sciences (Biotechnology/Plant Sciences/Life Sciences/Botany) with NET qualification. Desirable :  02 years of experience in rice research group for at least two years including experience in Marker Assisted introgression/rice biotechnology published research papers (3 Nos. minimum each with NAAS rating > 6.0)

The Directorate has well equipped laboratories with state of the art equipments, centrally air cooled greenhouses, bio-safe transgenic greenhouses, growth chambers, well laid out experimental farm and digital enabled library facilities. DRR also coordinates rice research at 47 funded and over 90 voluntary centers under AICRIP.Indian Institute of Rice Research(IIRR) , formerly All India coordinated Rice Improvement Project (AICRIP), was established by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) in 1965 with its national headquarters at Hyderabad to organize and coordinate multi-location testing of genetic lines and technologies for crop production and protection  jgenerated across the country. The Project was elevated to Directorate of Rice Research in 1975 with an added mandate of research in the thrust areas of irrigated rice. The Directorate continues its multi-location All India Coordinated Rice Improvement Programmme (AICRIP) with active partnership of 47 funded cooperating centers affiliated to State Agricultural Universities (SAUs), State Department of Agriculture and other Research Institutes of ICAR. Besides, over 90 voluntary centers operate under AICRIP which also forms a part of the mandate of DRR. In addition, DRR initiates network projects of national importance and coordinates these activities.
