Job Description
1. Project title: Collection, evaluation, documentation and conservation of banana genetic resources from North-eastern Region
2. Project Pl: Dr Anuradha Agrawal, Principal Scientist, TCCU, ICAR-NBPGR, New Delhi
3. Funded by : Department of Biotechnology Govt. of India
4. Post: Junior Research Fellow
5. Period: Up to Sept. 30, 2021 (or co- terminus with project, whichever is later)
6. Emoluments: 31,000 per month + 24% HRA for the NET/GATE or similar qualifications, 25,000 per month + 24% HRA for those not having NET/GATE or similar qualifications
Qualification:
A. Essential:
i. Post-Graduate degree (Master's degree) in Basic Science (Life Science, Botany, Plant Biotechnology, Plant Genetic Resources, Seed Technology, Genetics & Plant Breeding, Horticulture) with minimum 60% marks from recognized and reputed University as a regular student. OR
ii. Post Graduate Degree (Master's degree) in Professional Course (Agriculture/AgriculturaI Botany/ Horticulture/Plant Genetic Resources/ Physiology/ Biotechnology) with minimum 60% marks from recognized and reputed University as a regular student.
B. Desirable :
(i) National Eligibility Test (NET) Qualified (ICAWCSWUGC/DBT-NET including lectureship, or GATE) Or Qualified the National level examinations conducted by Central Government departments and their agencies and institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MHRD, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, 11%, 11SER etc. (to claim higher amount of fellowship)
(ii) Minimum I-year experience in plant tissue culture/in vitro conservation/ cryopreservation. Working computer knowledge of statistical analyses of data and data management.

In an unprecedented initiative, NBPGR, for the first time, has characterized and evaluated (preliminary) entire germplasm of wheat (22000 accessions comprising T. aestivum, T. durum and T. dicoccum) conserved in the National Genebank, at three locations in during Rabi 2011-12. At CCS HAU, Hisar, the wheat accessions have been characterized under optimum conditions. Data on 32 agro-morphological characters are used to develop a core-set.
