Job Description
Applications as detailed below are invited for filling up of Temporary Positions of Junior Research Fellow (01)/Junior Project Fellow/Senior Project Fellow (07)/Project Assistants (07) under the different projects implemented in this Institute. The positions to be filled up will be purely on temporary basis co-terminus with the projects. The temporary engagements is only project(s) related, and will in no way confer any entitlement for claiming a permanent post/appointment in the Institute.
Project Assistant (PA) (01 No).
Qualification: Essential: Essential: B.Sc in Agriculture/ Forestry/ Science (Medical)/ Environmental Science.
Desirable: Proficiency in Computer applications especially MSWord, Excel, Power Point, etc .
Number of Post: 01.
Emoluments: Rs 9,000/- per month fixed.
Title of the project: Establishment of Community Fodder Banks funded under NMHS Scheme. Pl: Dr. Rajesh Sharma Scientist-G.
Project Assistant (PA) (01 No).
Qualification: Essential: Graduation.
Desirable: Atleast 06 months experience in data entry and related work. Proficiency in Computer applications especially MS Word, Excel, Power Point, etc .
Number of Post: 01.
Emoluments: Rs 9,000/- per month fixed.
Title of the project: Evaluation of genetic superiority and stability of identified high active ingredient content accessions of Picrorhi:a Kurroa Royale ex Benth., Valeriana jatamans i Jone and Podophyllum hexandrum Royle through mufti-location trials and promotion of their amongst cultivation rural communities.
Project Assistant (PA) (01 No).
Qualification:Essential: B.Sc. Medical/Forestry/ Agriculture.
Desirable: Proficiency in Computer applications especially MSWord, Excel, Power Point, etc .

Emoluments: Rs 9,000/- per month fixed.
Title of the project: Developing seed testing and seed storage protocols of selected forestry species from diverse forest types Pl: P.s. Negi, Scientist-C.
Project Assistant (PA) (01 No).
Qualification:Essential: B.Sc. Medical/B.Sc. Forestry.
Desirable: Preference will be given to the candidates having experience of working in the relevant research projects.
Number of Post: 01.
Emoluments: Rs 15,500,/- per month fixed.
Title of the project: Preparation of forest soil health cards under di fferent vegetations in all the forests divisions of P': Dr. R. K. Verna Scientist-G.
Project Assistant (PA) (01 No).
Qualification: B.Sc. Medical/B.Sc. Forestry.
Number of Post: 02.
Emoluments: Rs 19,000/- per month fixed.
Title of the project: Preparation of PBRs at district and block levels of shimla and solan.
Age Limit:Age in case of JPF should not exceed 28 years as on 01st June of the year.
Junior Project Fellow (JPF) (01 No).
Qualification: Essential: 1st Class M.Sc. Forestry/ Botany Agricultural Economics/ Environmental Economics.
Desirable: Preference will be given to candidate having experience on economic valuation of natural resources and forest ecosystem services.
Number of Post: 01.
Emoluments: 16,000/- per month 8% HRA.
Title of the project: Valuation of forests for GDP, Green GDP and Payment of eco-system goods and services. Pl: Dr. Ranjeet Kumar, Scientist-E.

Himalayan Forest Research Institute (HFRI), Shimla, Himachal Pradesh was established as High Level Conifer Regeneration Research Centre during May, 1977 for carrying out research on problem associated with natural regeneration of Silver Fir and Spruce. The institute made its humble beginning by starting functioning from a single room in 'Kennedy House' and later with the increased research activities of this centre, an independent building 'Press Villa' near U.S. club was allotted to it during 1978.
