Job Description
Applications are invited for the Post of Junior Research Fellow(JRF) and RA-1 for NATIONAL MISSION ON HIMALAYAN STUDIES (NMHS), MOEF&CC Funded Project in School of Electronics Engineering (SENSE) Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore – 632 014.
Project Title:“LANDSLIDE MONITORING USING INSAR/ DINSAR / SBAS / PSINSAR TIME SERIES OVER HIMALAYAN REGION”
1. Junior Research Fellow (JRF):
1) Description: Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) signal and image processing techniques have to be explored for ground movement estimation. SAR polarimetry to be used to study the snow cover in the Himalayan region during the project tenure.
Qualification: Post Graduate degree in Physics (Electronics Spcl.) with NET qualification (or) Post Graduate degree in Professional Course, M.Tech in Communication Engineering with B.Tech Communication/ M.Tech in Remote sensing with specialisation in Microwave Remote Sensing/M.Tech Radar System and Antennas.

Duration:1 Year
Essential Criteria:a) Knowledge of Radar Signal Processing
b) SAR interferometry and Polarimetry
c) Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
d) Immediate joining is required if selected.
Desirable Criteria:
e) Machine learning(DNN/RNN/CNN) in Earth observation
f) Knowledge of Satellite Image Processing using ENVI/IDL
g) Knowledge of SAR data processing software PolSARPro and Gamma
h) Programming in IDL/C++/Matlab
Fellowship:Rs. 25,000 per month (Likely to be revised as per Govt. norms)
2. Research Associate (RA):
Qualification: a.) Ph.D. / M.D. / M.S. / M.D.S or equivalent degree in Science and Technology or
b.) B.Tech (ECE, EEE) or Physics and M.Tech/ M.E. / (Communication Engineering, Geoinformatics, Remote Sensing) having minimum 3 years of Research and development experience post PG (M.Tech).
Duration:1 Year
Essential Criteria:
a) Knowledge advanced SAR processing algorithms such as PSInSAR, SBAS, and Multi aperture interferometry in Radar Signal Processing domain.
b) SAR interferometry and Polarimetry
c) Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
d) Immediate joining is required if selected.
Desirable Criteria:
e) Knowledge of Satellite Image Processing using ENVI/IDL
f) Knowledge of SAR data processing software PolSARPro and Gamma
g) Programming in IDL/C++/Matlab/R
