NRSC-ISRO recruiting 26 Vacancies for the post of JRF

 

National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) is one of the constituent Centres of Indian Space Research Organisation(ISRO), Department of Space(DOS) responsible for the Ground Segment of Remote Sensing Programme through Satellite Data Acquisition, Archival, Processing, Dissemination, Remote Sensing Applications. Training and Capacity Building. It has five Regional Centres located at Bengaluru, Nagpur. Kolkata, Jodhpur and New Delhi to address region/area specific Remote Sensing application needs.


JRF 1

Qualification : ME/M.Tech in Geophysics/ Oceanography & Meteorology/ Earth Ocean & Climate Science/ Atmospheric Science/ Meteorology/ Climatology or equivalent. or  M.Sc. in Marine Sciences/ Oceanography/ Physics/ Geophysics/ Atmospheric Science or equivalent with UGC-CSIR NET/ GATE or equivalent. Desirable : Knowledge in one or more of the following: Processing of Satellite data and willing to participate in cruises for in-situ data collection.Numerical methods and Computer Programming. or Macro programming for Surface Energy balance in open source environment.

Qualification : ME/M.Tech in Geology/ Applied Geology/Earth Sciences or equivalent. M.Sc in Geology /Applied Geology/Earth Sciences or equivalent with UGC-CSIR NET/ GATE or equivalent. Desirable : Working knowledge in Microwave Remote Sensing & Geophysical Survey / Remote Sensing & GIS

Qualification : ME/M.Tech in Remote Sensing/Remote Sensing & GIS/Geo-Informatics and Remote Sensing / Geoinformatics/ Environmental Geoinformatics or equivalent. Desirable : Knowledge in one or more of the following: Modeling specially in environmental parameters.Hyperspectral image data format and processing. or ENVI/IDL/Python or comparable image analysis tools.(or) Programming and microwave remote sensing.( or)

JRF 4

Qualification : ME/M.Tech in Water Resources Engineering/ Hydraulics Engineering /Hydrology / Soil & Water Conservation/ Remote Sensing / GIS /Geoinformatics/ Geomatics or equivalent after B.E/B.Tech or equivalent in Civil/Environmental/ Agricultural Engineering. Desirable : Knowledge in Water Resources/Hydrology/ GIS/ Remote Sensing.

Emoluments : The Junior Research Fellows (JRF) shall be paid Rs. 25,000 per month. After successful completion of 2 years as JRF, the research work done by JRF will be reviewed by a Review Committee for positioning as SRF and the total emoluments will be revised to Rs.28,000/- per month.


Age : 28 years as on 01.07.2017


Selection Process: The Qualification prescribed is the minimum requirement and possession of the same does not automatically make the candidate eligible to be called for Interview. There will be an initial screening based on the academic performance and other parameters given in the online application and only those who are screened-in will be called for Interview. Selection will be made based on performance in the Interview.


Place of Posting : The selected candidates are likely to be posted at NRSC - Earth Station, Shadnagar campus, Mahabubnagar District, Telangana State (OR) at NRSC, Hyderabad and RRSC – Jodhpur. However, the selected candidate is liable to be posted in any of the Centres/Units of ISRO/DOS situated in India as and when required.


Period of Engagement: Junior Research Fellows will be engaged initially for a period of TWO YEARS and their term shall be extended based on need and assessment of their work requirements of the Project, for a maximum period of FIVE years. There will be a review of the activity every year before renewal of fellowship.

National Remote Sensing Agency (NRSA) was established as a registered society on 2nd September 1974 by Department of Science & Technology, based on a Union Cabinet approval dated December 13, 1973. The objective of organisation being undertaking and facilitating remote sensing activities in the country. Since the initial emphasis was on aerial surveys, NRSA took over the works and functions of Research Flight Facility of the Ministry of Defence. The NRSA Society's governing body was chaired by none other than the then Prime Minister of India, Mrs. Indira Gandhi. NRSA started functioning from hired premises in Secunderabad, Andhra Pradesh from mid April 1975.
