Job Description
Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) invites application for the position Junior Research Fellow
Project: “Forensic investigation related to Geotechnical aspects in order to stabilize the foundation soil of expansive nature and implement suitable ground improvement technology to sustain and enhance the optimum dump height”.
The duration of the project is 2 years.
Eligibility Criteria:
a. Essential Qualification: B.E. /B Tech in Civil Engineering with 70% or 7.0 CPI/CGPA and should be GATE qualified.
b. Desirable Qualification: M.E. /M Tech in Civil Engineering/Mining Engineering/Applied Geology/Allied disciplines with 70% or 7.0 CPI/CGPA.
Tenure of the position: The post is purely temporary in nature. Initial Contract shall only be for One year. Based on the progress it may be extended for one more year.
Stipend: ₹ 31000/- per calendar month (consolidated)

Job Description: (but not limited to)
JRF (01): Collection of samples, Geotechnical investigation and Geological exploration at Makhardhokra Site, Umrer (near Nagpur); field and laboratory testing, study of physical, mineral and mechanical properties of soils and rocks collected, characterisation of geomaterials, monitoring and assessment of overburden dumps, instrumentation and data analysis of retain-ment structures, etc. in addition to tasks assigned by PI/Co-PI from time to time.
JRF (02): Finite element analysis and simulation of geotechnical structures like retaining wall, sheet pile, foundation systems etc., slope stability analysis, analysis and design of retaining structures, preparing technical guidelines, reports, specifications and other scientific documents, etc. in addition to tasks assigned by PI/Co-PI from time to time.
Age Limit: The upper age limit is 25 years for B Tech Graduates and 28 for M Tech graduates & relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PH/female candidate as per GoI norms
