Indian Institute of Technology Patna (IIT Patna) invites application for the position Junior Research Fellow
Applications are invited in the prescribed format only for the following assignment in a purely time bound research project undertaken in this institute.
(a) Name of the temporary assignment : Junior Research Fellow
(b) Number of Post : 01 (ONE)
c) Duration of the Post : Initially for 6 months, extendable up to 2 years based on the satisfactory performance
Name of the temporary research project : “Robust and Reliability Based Design Optimization and Performance Assessment of Superelastic Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) Damper for Seismic
Vibration Control of Structures”.
Name of the sponsoring Agency : Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB).
Fellowship : Rs. 31,000/- per month plus HRA as per GoI rule.
Qualifications & Experience : GATE qualified, M.Tech. in Structural Engineering or Applied Mechanics or in similar specializations (such as M.Tech. in earthquake engineering, structural dynamics).
Desirable Experience:
a. Strong background in programming language such as Matlab, Mathematica, C/C++, Python etc. Expert in software such as ABAQUS or ANSYS, ETABS or SAP2000, OpenSees, Design Expert.
b. Strong hold in subject area such as Structural Dynamics, Earthquake Engineering, Vibration Control Theory, Random Vibration, Reliability Analysis, FEM, Structural Mechanics, Material Modeling, Numerical Methods, Probability Theory, Machine Learning etc. Previous experience of doing research work, preferably have publication record in Peerreviewed journals and conference.
c. Very good proficiency in English reading, writing, and speaking. The candidate desirably should have MTech degree in Civil Engineering (or in relevant area) degree with a minimum CPI of 7.5 or 70 % of marks. The upper age limit for applying for the JRF position shall be 28 years. Relaxations for SC/ST/OBC/women/PD will be given as per the GOI rules.
d. Preference shall be given to GATE (in CE) qualified candidates interested to pursue PhD and having previous research and/ or work experience in the field of Structural Engineering or Earthquake Engineering (or in relevant areas of study).
Age Limit: The upper age limit for applying for the JRF position shall be 28 years.
