National Institute of Hydrology invites application for the position Junior Research Fellow

1. Designation: Junior Research Fellow

No. of Post: One

Duration: 03 months

Project/Sub-Project Title: “Understanding of Hydrological processes in upper Ganga basin using isotopic techniques”

Essential: Postgraduate degree in basic sciences (Geology/Environmental Science/Earth Sciences) OR Graduate Degree in Engineering Course (B.E/B.Tech.) in Civil/ Agriculture Engg./Environmental Engg. OR Post Graduate Degree in Professional Course M.Tech. in Civil/Agriculture Engg./Environmental/ Water Resources/ Hydrology/Remote Sensing/GIS/Geoinformatics) selected through a process described through any one of the following:

a. Scholars who are seleted through National Eligibility Tests- CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and GATE.
b. The selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MHRD, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER etc.

Desirable: Person with higher /additional qualifications, research experience, and publications in relevant field is preferable.

Emoluments per month: Rs. 31,000/- + HRA( as admissible)

Duration: 2.5 years

Project/Sub-Project Title: “Long term hydrological assessment for the development of water security plan into three sub-basins namely Barak, Minor rivers draining into Bangladesh and Minor rivers draining into Myanmar subbasins in the state of Mizoram”

Essential: Graduate Degree in Professional Course (B.E/B.Tech.) in Civil/Water Resources/Hydrology Engineering OR Post Graduate Degree in Professional Course M.E./M.Tech. in Civil/Water Resources Engg./Hydrology/Soil & Water Conservation Engg/Geo-informatics/Climate Sciences . selected through a process described through any one of the following:

a. Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Tests- CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and GATE.
b. The selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MHRD, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER etc.

Desirable: Good knowledge in
(i) Hydrological Modeling/Tools like SWAT, WEAP,
(ii) Climate change analysis and downscaling of CMIP5/CMIP6 GCMs/RCMs
(iii) Programming in Python/R
(iv) Remote sensing & GIS applications.

Project/Sub-Project Title: Chemical & Isotopic Characterization of Deep Aquifer Groundwater of Middle Ganga Basin, (PDS under NHP)

Essential: Post Graduate Degree in Professional Course M.E/M.Tech.) in Water Resources/Earth Science/Environmental Science/HydrologicalSciences/ Remote Sensing/Soil & Water Conservation Engg. selected through a process described through any one of the following:

a. Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Tests- CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and GATE.
b. The selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MHRD, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER etc

Nature of Work: (i) Remote Sensing & GIS (ii) Interpretation of hydrological data (iii) Publication in reputed journals.

Emoluments per month: Rs. 31,000/- + HRA ( as admissible)

Age Limit: 28 years as on the date of interview. Age relaxation of SC/ST/OBC/Women and physically handicapped candidates as per Govt. of India rules.
