Job Description
Lalit Kala Akademi Scholarship
The Lalit Kala Akademi awards scholarship to young and budding artists every year. The objective of this scholarship scheme is to provide these young people a work space where their skills can be improved and they can develop innovative ideas in their respective field of visual arts.
Number : The Akademi awards maximum number of 40 scholarships every year.
Conditions of Eligibility :
1. Candidates should be Indian citizens
2. The applicant should have an art back ground (or) education in the field of Art – Degree/ diploma, (or) proof of work experience in the field of visual art for at least five years. The Scholarship will be awarded only to an applicant who fulfills all the requirements of scholarship. He/She is also required to work full time (from 9:30 am to 6 pm daily, on all working days).
3. Candidates should have adequate knowledge in the discipline for which they have applied for.
4. Those applicants who are undergoing regular studies are not eligible for scholarship.
Value of Scholarship : Each scholar will be paid Rs. 10,000/- per month for a period of one year to cover his/ her living expenses, travel expenses, purchase of art material, etc.
Age : The minimum age limit for the scholars is 21 years and maximum is 35 years.

Duration and Term of Scholarship : The duration of the proposed scholarship will be for one year (12 months).
The selected scholars will be required to work only at the Regional Centres of the Akademi situated
in Garhi (New Delhi), Kolkata, Lucknow, Bhubaneswar and at the camp offi ce Shimla which are
attached to their respective states/Union Territories

4. LKA’s Regional Centre, Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Daman & Diu,
Dadra and Nagar Haveli
5. LKA’s Regional Centre, Kolkata: West Bengal, Meghalaya, Manipur, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Mizoram, Andaman & Nicobar Islands

Selection : The selection for award of scholarships will be made by a Jury comprising of senior artists and experts in the field of art. The selection and award of scholarship will be considered only on the
submission of all required materials. The photographs of exhibits or prints of published articles will
be the main basis, but not the only basis for selection.

The
Lalit Kala Akademi was inaugurated in New Delhi on August 5th, 1954, by
the then Minister for Education, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. The youngest
of the three Akademies founded by the Government of India, the Lalit
Kala Akademi was established in pursuance of the dream of the first
Prime Minister of independent India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru for a
cultural and national identity. Thus the Lalit Kala Akademi as one among
three such national organizations, that emerged. The LKA was the
principal establishment to direct its focus on activities in the field
of visual arts.
