Kraton is seeking a Registered Patent Agent for remote work to provide Kraton businesses and R&D units located globally with IP support. Our interview process will be conducted virtually, and we will ask for examples of previous (published) work.

Key Responsibilities

Kraton Corporation (NYSE: KRA) is a leading global sustainable producer of specialty polymers and high-value biobased products derived from pine wood pulping co-products. Kraton offers its products to a diverse customer base worldwide. Kraton is seeking a Registered Patent Agent for remote work â preferably located in Bangalore, to provide Kraton businesses and R&D units located globally with IP support. Our interview process will be conducted virtually, and we will ask for examples of previous (published) work.

The position requires interactions with scientists, engineers and business team members located globally, with working hours adapted to work with colleagues in US time zone (morning). The person is responsible for preparing and prosecuting patent applications (US and foreign) across a variety of chemical technology areas, and assisting with freedom-to-operate (FTO) analyses. Working in a team with IP colleagues located in the US and India, the person will play a key role in analyzing, drafting patent applications, pursuing patent claims, managing Kratonâs intellectual property (IP) portfolio, and assisting with developing best practices and standard procedures for global IP management.

Required Skills

Registration with a national patent office, e.g., India or US

Minimum 3 years experience as a patent agent or a patent attorney, drafting and prosecuting patent applications

Experience with US / EPO patent prosecution

Experience with e-File

Experience in managing own docket under deadlines

Experience with patentability and FTO searches

Ability to develop claim charts

Flexible with strong collaboration skills

Ability to think critically and ask probing questions

Must provide excellent client service, i.e., quick responses to email

Strong writing and communication skills

Exposure to trademark searches, filing and prosecution would be valued

Education, Certifications & Licenses

MS or PhD in organic chemistry, polymer science, polymer chemistry, biochemistry, or chemical engineering, preferably with educational experience outside of India
