Job Description

Duties And Responsibilities

Based on a consultative process, specific Investment Opportunities Areas have been identified across 7 priority sectors for India. The work will be an iterative research-intensive process to identify, assess, and analyze the data sources to feed into the development of the mapping of the identified IOAs—namely public and private sources of secondary research including government documents, published legislation, regulatory guidance around sustainable development, national investment plans, sector maps, investment reports and other research from entities pertaining to national and local investment needs.

For Each Identified Investment Opportunity Area, The Intern Would Perform The Following Types Of Research And Analysis With Detailed Citations And Sourcing

These data sources must be first identified and collected (with sources and citations recorded), then assessed and analyzed for relevant information to populate the proposed Excel template provided.
  • Financial metrics: identifying and leveraging secondary data resources and existing databases to identify the market size, return profile and investment timeframe;
  • Enabling factors: researching and reviewing industry reports and publications to highlight the policy, regulatory and financial environment for investors;
  • Impact assessment: collect impact and risk information such as beneficiaries, scale, externalities, etc. to conduct an impact analysis
Expected Deliverables/ Outcomes
  • Populate pre-designed template with the above-mentioned information for 10-15 Investment Opportunity Areas
  • Organize qualitative insights gathered through consultations with key stakeholders by documenting meetings for project records
  • Organize quantitative insights gathered from financial intelligence database under the guidance of the Team Lead and Research Associate
  • Any other project management related tasks as assigned by the Team Lead

Education

Required Skills and Experience

Applicants to the UNDP internship programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:
  • Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (such as a master’s programme, or higher) preferably in business administration, finance, economics or a related field;
  • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (such as bachelor’s degree or equivalent) preferably in business administration, finance, economics or a related field;
  • Have recently graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation;
  • Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program and undertake the internship as part of this program.
Experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of investments and finance
  • Ability to analyze large sets of data and understand complex reports
  • Extremely task/ detail oriented
  • Able to communicate clear ideas across a variety of mediums (in-person, phone, email, web, etc.)
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as in teams
Language Requirements: Fluency in Written and Oral English.
