SRF/Field Assistant recruitment in National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources

Title : “ Pre-breeding for transfer of Okra Yellow Vein Mosaic Virus and Enation Leaf Curl Virus tolerance from wild relatives to cultivated genepool ”

Senior Research Fellow/01 Post

Qualification :  M.Sc. in Horticulture/Agriculture/ Botany from a recognized University with specialization in Genetics & Plant Breeding. Candidates with M.Sc. (3+2 year pattern) in Botany should have qualified NET. (2) Desirable: Experience in polyploidy breeding / crop improvement as evidenced by thesis / publication / certificate

Remuneration : Rs. 25,000

Lab/Field Assistant/02 Post

Qualification : 10 + 2 / Vocational Higher Secondary pass with Agriculture as one subject OR 10+2 with additional minimum six months training from recognized institution in Agriculture/Horticulture. (2)Desirable: Experience in hybridization / seed production aspects of annual crops / vegetables OR Experience in handling agricultural implements.

About Company

In an unprecedented initiative, NBPGR, for the first time, has characterized and evaluated (preliminary) entire germplasm of wheat (22000 accessions comprising T. aestivum, T. durum and T. dicoccum) conserved in the National Genebank, at three locations in during Rabi 2011-12. At CCS HAU, Hisar, the wheat accessions have been characterized under optimum conditions. Data on 32 agro-morphological characters are used to develop a core-set. At IARI Regional Station, Wellington wheat germplasm were screened against rusts and other major foliar diseases. A sub-set of accessions identified to be potentially tolerant/resistant are being screened at two other hot-spots. At NBPGR, Issapur Farm, two sets of wheat germplasm, one under normal sowing and second set under late sowing were screened for terminal heat tolerance
