Job Description
National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) invites application for the position Project Assistant
Project entitled: "Determination of prophylactic oral iron supplementation response among adolescent girls with iron deficiency anemia"
Essential Qualification:
(i) Graduate in Life Sciences/ Applied Science form recognized university with three years work experience from a recognized institute OR
(ii) Master's degree in the Life Sciences/ Applied Science subjects.
Desirable: Handling of biochemical and genetic experiments alongwith field experience. Preference for women candidates.
Emoluments: Rs. 31,000/- p.m. fixed without any allowances.
Tenure: Initially one year
Nature of Duties: Data collection and supervision of IFA supplementation in social welfare residential educational institutions. Analyze blood samples using HPLC, ELISA and PCR.
Place of Work: ICMR-NIN and travel to educational institutions located at a distance of 20-30 km from NIN
Age Limit: 30 years. Age relaxation is admissible as per ICMR guidelines.

National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) was founded by Sir Robert McCarrison in the year 1918 as ‘Beri-Beri’ Enquiry Unit in a single room laboratory at the Pasteur Institute, Coonoor, Tamil Nadu. Within a short span of seven years, this unit blossomed into a 'Deficiency Disease Enquiry' and later in 1928, emerged as full-fledged 'Nutrition Research Laboratories' (NRL) with Dr. McCarrison as its first Director. It was shifted to Hyderabad in 1958.
