Job Description:
We are looking for an Urban Data Analyst who will support our in-house team with The collection, processing, and analysis of data being aggregated from varied sources. The ideal candidate is adept at using large data sets to find opportunities for product and process optimization and using models to test the effectiveness of different courses of action. S/he must have strong experience using a variety of data mining/data analysis methods, using a variety of data tools, building and implementing models, using/creating algorithms, and creating/running simulations. S/he must have a proven ability to drive business results with their data-based insights. S/he must be comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams. The right candidate will have a passion for discovering solutions hidden in large data sets and working with stakeholders to improve business outcomes.
Responsibilities for Urban Data Analyst:
- Work with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging the organization & databases to drive business solutions.
- Write programs to cleanse and integrate data in an efficient and reusable manner.
- Mine and analyse data from the organization &databases to drive optimization and improvement of product development, marketing techniques, and business strategies.
- Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques.
- Work in an agile, collaborative environment, partnering with other scientists, engineers, consultants and database administrators of all backgrounds and disciplines to bring analytical rigor and statistical methods to the challenges of predicting behaviours.
- Communicate with internal and external clients to understand and define business needs and appropriate modelling techniques to provide analytical solutions.
- Develop custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets.
- Use predictive modelling to increase and optimise experiences, revenue generation and other organizational outcomes.
- Develop organization’s A/B testing framework and test model quality.
- Coordinate with different functional teams to implement models and monitor outcomes.
- Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy.
Qualification and Work Experience:
- Master’s or PhD in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computational and Data Science or any quantitative field
- 2 to 4 years of work experience in a role related to data science
Skills Required:
The candidate must possess the following minimum skills ;
- Strong technical and analytical abilities, a knack for driving impact and growth, and experience with programming / scripting in a language such as R and Python
- Knowledge of a variety of statistical techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks
- Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications
- Basic understanding of statistical programming in a language such as R, Python, or MATLAB
- Strong understanding and experience in the urban sector is preferred
- Basic understanding of Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to look at things differently, debug, troubleshoot, design and implement solutions to complex technical issues
- Experience working with and creating data architectures
- Basic understanding of Cloud (AWS, Azure, etc.)
- Interest in, understanding of, or experience with Design Thinking and Agile Development Methodologies.
- A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques
