Job Description

North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC), Umiam is an autonomous body functioning under the Department of Space and North Eastern Council (NEC) to assist development process in North Eastern Region using space science and technology. It undertakes specific applications projects using remote sensing, GIS, satellite communication and conducting space science research. The Centre’s services are helpful in natural resources management, infrastructure planning, health, education, disaster management and Earth Observation Applications Mission. Applications are invited from the eligible candidates for the following position:-

1. Name of the Post: Scientist/Engineer ‘SC’

2. No of Post: 02

3. Minimum Basic Pay per month: Rs.56,100/-

4. Essential Qualification: 

a) i) M.Tech in RS & GIS (with specialization in Geo-sciences) in First Class with an aggregate minimum of 60% marks (average of all semesters) or CGPA/CPI Grading of 6.5 on 10 scale or equivalent from a recognized university with pre-eligibility qualification of M.Sc. in Geology/ Applied Geology in First Class with an aggregate minimum of 65% marks (average of all semester) or CGPA/CPI grading of 6.84 on a 10 scale or equivalent and B.Sc. in Geology/ Applied Geology (Major/Honours/Main subject). or

ii) M.Tech in Applied Geology/ Geological Technology in First Class with an aggregate minimum of 60% marks (average of all semesters) or CGPA/CPI grading of 6.5 on 10 scale or equivalent from a recognized University. /OR

iii) M.Tech (3 years) in Applied Geology/ Geological Technology in First Class with an aggregate minimum of 60% marks (average of all semesters) or CGPA/CPI Grading of 6.5 on 10 scale or equivalent from a recognized university with pre-eligibility qualification of B.Sc. in Geology/ Applied Geology (Major/Honours/Main subject). /OR

iv) M.Sc. in Geology/ Applied Geology in First Class with an aggregate minimum of 65% marks (average of all semesters) or CGPA/CPI grading of 6.84 on a 10 scale or equivalent with pre-eligibility qualification of B.Sc. in Geology/ Applied Geology (Major/ Honours/ Main subject). /OR  v) M.Sc Tech in Geology in First Class with an aggregate minimum of 65% marks (average of all semester) or CGPA/CPI grading of 6.84 on a 10 scale or equivalent with preeligibility qualification of B.Sc. in Geology/ Applied Geology (Major/ Honours/ Main subject).

b) i) M.Tech in Physics/ Applied Physics/ Atmospheric Science/ Earth System Science or equivalent with First Class with an aggregate minimum of 60% marks (average of all semesters) or CGPA/CPI Grading of 6.5 on a 10 scale or equivalent from a recognized university. / WITH

ii) Preeligibility qualification of M.Sc./B.Tech in Physics/ Applied Physics/ Atmospheric Science/ Earth System Science/ Engineering Physics/ Physical Sciences or equivalent in First Class with an aggregate minimum of 65% marks (average of all semester) or CGPA/CPI grading of 6.84 on a 10 scale or equivalent. /OR

iii) M.Sc in Physics/ Applied Physics/ Atmospheric Science or equivalent in First Class with an aggregate minimum of 65% marks (average of all semesters) or CGPA/CPI Grading of 6.84 on 10 scale or equivalent from a recognized university with B.Sc. in Physics as a Major/Honours/Main subject. /OR

iv) Integrated M.Tech in Physics/ Applied Physics/ Atmospheric Science/ Earth System Science or equivalent in First Class with an aggregate minimum of 60% marks (average of all semester) or CGPA/CPI grading of 6.5 on a 10 scale or equivalent regard

5. Desirable Qualification and Experience: 

a) Experience in interpretation and analysis of Optical, Hyperspectral and Microwave Remote Sensing data for Geoscience related applications.

b) Experience in Atmospheric Modelling, Programming knowledge in FORTRAN / Matlab/ Python/ Linux. Experience in the field of geophysical parameter retrieval using satellite data.

Age Limit:
The Minimum age is 18 years and maximum age limit is 35 years for all posts.
